Skins shopping Fred Davis

top dawg

Trading for him doesn't excite me. And would rather keep our picks to see more of DG's eye for talent.

Not trying to be funny, but 6th round picks are generally projects who don't see the field much in their first couple of years (unless something is or goes horribly wrong).  Not saying that we have to get a TE with a 6th round pick, but we already have B-Will, and Davis is someone that could come in and conceivably help us right off the bat.  You don't generally get those types of players in the 6th.

Didn't he blow out his Achilles last year? That's iffy bro.

Oh poo, he did.  I didn't realize that.  He tore it last year and is still trying to comeback from it.

Nevermind, do not want.

It has been more than a year.  Dude was legit before his injury. He just got "upgraded" on the cheap.

I get your point. And that is true for later roud picks. it just doesnt excite me because he hasn't seemed to make much impact this year. I mean I don't follow the Redskins super close, but It's hard to judge if he's still good to contribute when they haven't seemed to use him. At least haven't use him as much as a rookie. I could be wrong...

Send a 6th to get Davis and then get a six back for the Beason trade.

That's a nice idea. To me it's a great scenario.

Looks like he would only cost us half a mil, but this is the last season under contract and he is injured so I don't know...

Davis is purportedly over the injury, and has been since the summer. The Skins just didn't want to play---which really means pay---him because they have someone who may be just as good or better. He said that he feels he can still be a top TE in the league, and just wants an opportunity to play.

Supposedly the jets were interested but backed out from their asking price?

If it's for a seventh, go for it. But seems like a lot of risk for anything more.

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off

Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
