If we miss the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6 and still fire Rivera.. We deserve to be bottom dwellers.

Rivera is still better then Jon Fox.

I watched the game Thursday while at the gym, it was hilarious.  Cam is a good QB but his shortcomings are pulling down the Panthers.  He is getting better week after week but he keeps struggling when it matters.  Personally, though, I believe that in a rookies 2nd and 3rd years when they struggle the most is when they expose their maximum ceiling.  They regress to the mean at this point and you have a better feel for how good they could and will be.  Granted, Cam has the stats and creds to make some people "ohh" and "ahh" I think he needs a little bit more time to develop.  Dorsey has his hands full but is the perfect coach.  By default, Rivera is a good coach for Newton right now and for the next couple seasons while he builds his fragile confidence.  This kid is going to be better in a year because Rivera can trust him with his patience and guide him with his experience.

The Panthers are one of the top 10 NFC teams in the league.  It will be the Dallas', Phili's and other pretenders that will keep ya'll in or out of the playoffs.  That said, the NFC is up for grabs behind Seattle right now.

edit...btw.  If ya'll respond like this, well, how can I respond in turn?  I am not going to waste your time so do not waste mine.  I follow a rule of thumb,  I will respond to an argument twice and then I am done - when a counter point is like yours above then its just bad form.  It brings a good board down.  But, cool, I like neat colorful pictures.

    • The year he had another edge rusher opposite him in Reddick, Reddick ended up having more sacks. Burns was good at rushing the passer here but he was taken out of plays far too often by a single TE or you'd never even known he was in the game at all.  The Rams offer was equivalent to prime Khalil Mack or a TJ Watt. Those guys single handedly took over games and stopped drives. I can't remember a game Burns ever did that. Do we wish we had the level of production hes giving right now? Of course. Do I think we'd have it here. No.  At the time, his production was on par with Reddick, not Parsons. Pay production and incentivise potential.
    • Technically our guys are in the top 6 in sacks for rookies and Scourton is tied for the lead.
    • That's why so many said he wasn't worth it here, there was only DB and it wasn't enough. If Burns is feasting then the other guys in NY are doing enough already, Burns is just collecting the stats. It's what he eas built for and is finally in his perfect space to succeed. Im not as in on the new guys yet. More is an understatement but the good news is that they are rookies.
