Here's a thread to give the OL their props

Are they great?  No.

Are they the future?  Probably not.

But overall I can't complain about the job they've been doing lately.  Sometimes?  Yeah, sometimes you watch an individual play and all that rattles through your brain watching the OL is a big capital W? T? F?  But, my god, I expected so much worse.  Considering at this point our right side is two undrafted free agents, one of them a former DT.

So good on ya, hog mollies.

Keep improving.

And keep up the good work.

(P.S. We *still* need major upgrades on that OL and it needs to happen through the draft.)

They were adequate at best last night.  It definitely bothers me that we were completely unable to establish any sort of running game against an NE team that is pretty beat up along the DL.

But, considering what we're fielding, they're doing about as well as could honestly be expected.

Belichick is known for taking away what your offense does well so is it any wonder the running game was not great?  He had 2 weeks to prepare and develop a gameplan. What did you expect??

I was a bit upset that we did not run right up the gut more.  We ran right and left so much--i guess we have to set up the play action.

But we had Chandler on their weakest DL.

Bottom line: Cam had time to throw.

Would you have preferred a circle-jerk?  I don't get it.

Did you even READ the title of the damn thread?

Don't you have your own capability to open a thread criticizing the OL?

But here's to you, Mr. Realist-Contrarian and the HARD HITTING TAKES you bring to this here board.

What bothered me was the fact that they were able to shutdown our running game while at the same time seemingly dropping the entire roster into coverage.  I didn't think they'd be able to pull off both.

They didn't pull off both. We threw for 209 yards and Cam was 19 of 28 with a passer rating of 125.  That is above our game average.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
