I just gotta add it's so easy to make this thread when we are on a win streak and cam is looking like a mvp. Where was this thread when we started out 1-3 and sportswriters were calling cam a bust and we were looking at another losing season? I have been a fan for the three years since cam has been on the team. I have been here through all the losing and never left. I am a full panthers convert. If cam leaves I will still be a panthers fan. It is a bit annoying that some people enjoy trying to separate the prenewton and postnewton fans as if their loyalty or fanism is different.

Panther fan since 2003 - 2004, was just a general football fan before then, that occasionally watched. Fell in love that year andand never looked back. 10 yrs in, keep pounding!!

Moved to Charlotte in 1993 at the age of 5 from Toronto... that year Charlotte (and the Carolinas) was rewarded an NFL Expansion team and my family and I hopped on board right then. We went to a game in Clemson in '95 and a couple in '96 

 

Any one here remember the big party the Panthers threw outside of then, Ericsson Stadium when they official "opened" the stadium?! Man that was a fun night to be a kid and a Panthers fan...

 

Happy to be able to say "I've seen it all"

Moved to Charlotte the summer of 95, grew up going to games and knowing the Panthers but I was always a Hornets boy and loved basketball more. I remember watching the Super Bowl game at a friends house and then complaining about why anyone in Charlotte would have to go to school the next day (I was in high school). I never really cared about football until I started playing fantasy football and got really into it. I started watching the last of the 2010 Panthers games and found this board in December 2010. You guys make it easy to be obsessed and now I can say I'm a true fan.

 

So I guess I can say I became a fan at the end of Jimmy Clausen era.

Lol yep, people won't admit it but over half this board are Cam fans. This doesn't just include the Auburn/fanboys, it includes the people who stopped watching or never really watched the Panthers until now, or with Cam. Those are post-Newton fans as well. and no, the Cam wagon fans are NOT long gone, they are here...until Cam leaves or starts to suck. They are fans of the Panthers because they are a fan of Cam, not a fan of Cam because they are a fan of the Panthers.

People on this board are so full of poo. I was here in 2010, along with the other 20 posters. Bit different now, and no, not a coincidence.

 

Even if what you say is true, if they aren't auburn fans then they are just basic bandwagon fans, not specifically cam fans.

 

They joined the bandwagon because Cam helped make the Panthers good and exciting, not because of Cam himself.

 

I wasn't here in 2010 because I didn't know about this site in 2010, I did all my Panthers discussion on The Wolf Web before I joined here.

I was a fan since right after the 2-14 2010 season (strange time to become a fan I know) right around the time I became a fan everyone wanted Andrew Luck and I wanted us to draft Cam and was probably the only one that was glad Luck went back to school so we could draft Cam. I said from the start Cam would and should be the pick, even over Luck and I was the only one that would have picked Cam over Luck. And frankly I hate college football so it had nothing to do with Auburn, just one of those "when you know, you just know" type of situations and I just knew with Cam.

Dont get me wrong, us drafting Cam was not the reason I became a fan. Ive lived in South Carolina my whole life and to this day I dont know why I decided to become a hardcore fan after the 2-14 season, but I dont regret it one bit. During Rivera's first two years I still wore my Panthers gear in pride just as I do now. So I have been a fan since 2010. I know, im a noob.

Made the trek down to Clemson for every home game that inaugural year.

Did not hurt that I worked for Rick Hendricks at the time. He had leased cars to the coaching/scout staff and hit tickets and luxury boxes instead of cash. He had like 7 or 8 suites while they were in Clemson.

I usually got a suite for the game...not a seat in the suite, but the whole suite. I would take 12-13 of my buddies and we would party. Good was provided and you could bring your own beer if you were in a suite. Took a huge cooler full and spent no cash.

God that was a fun year.

I live in Oregon, have loved the Panthers through 2-14 twice, 1-15, and when I wanted Rivera fired. I am a huge Oregon ducks fan, and I hated when we picked Newton. I wanted Patrick Peterson. I guessed the kuechly pick.. and will love this team forever.

I became a Panther fan their first year in existence.   Before the Panthers I was a Bears fan.  Walter Payton is still my favorite player of all time.  But it was funny because we played the Bears our first year and before the game I was hoping the Bears would win.....then during the game I found myself rooting for the Panthers and that was it.   I'm a Carolina boy.

I was a fan since the announcement the city was getting a team, altho at the time i was too young to really appreciate it. I started actually going to the games with family around  2000 - 20001 and just became a bigger and bigger fan every year. I liked Cam the year he was at Auburn. I remember talking s**t to my cousin whose a Clemson fan that "that number 2 dude for Auburn is going to beast the hell out you guys", which he did. From that game on, i liked Cam, even as a University of South Carolina student, i liked the guy. I can also admit i didn't want to draft the kid, not because i didn't think he was worth it, just thought the team could beef up in other areas. Insane i know. However, the second we drafted him, i was on board. I was gonna support whoever the Panthers drafted and Cam just had something about him that was REALLY easy to support. Love his attitude and yes "swagger". Im a Panthers fan for life, but I'm also a Cam fan for life...unless the dude LeBrons us, then f**k that guy.
