"The Panthers are ripe for a letdown game like they always have!"

Err, can someone point to the last time the Panthers lost a trap game during a playoff run? We were undefeated against teams with a .500 or less record in November and December in 2008 and 2005 and lost to a bad Falcons team late in 2003 following losses to a good Cowboys team and a good Eagles team. In 2006, we beat two bad teams to go to 6-4 and then lost to a bad Redskins team which started a 4 game losing streak. The Redskins weren't a "letdown", we had beaten a terrible Bucs and terrible Rams team previously, not teams like the 49ers and Patriots of 2013. In 2004, Moose and the Panthers killed the bad Bucs late in the season to improve to 7-8 when we still had an outside chance of the playoffs, but then followed that up with that loss to the 7-8 Saints when Kasay missed a 60+ yard field goal at the end of the game.

As far as I can tell, we've NEVER followed up a win against a good team during a playoff run with a loss to a bad team in the past 10 years. Not even once. If you can find one, please point it out.

We CAN lose on Sunday, but you're being needlessly paranoid and pearl-clutching if you really think we're going to lose.

that '03 Falcons team had just gotten Vick back for that game. they werent even the same team they were with todd bouman or whoever played QB for them most of that year.

I was grounded from TV (amongst other things) for that game and had to turn all my lights off in my room and turn the tv way down so I could watch it without my parents knowing. think my old man may have known but was cool about it and let me. then we friggin blew it in OT.

Jesse: I'm not sure if you're being serious or not or if you completely misread. I'm NOT saying we're going to have a letdown, I'm predicting an easy win. I'm trying to reassure these panicky folks. Some people said we might lose last week (cough cough), but at least there was plenty of precedent for that. For a game like this? There's no precedent at all.

I'm not confused about your point, but can see where some would be. Who are you quoting?

Assorted people on here, talk radio, social media.

Also, guys, please don't just read thread titles. Even if you do, if it's in quotes and ends in an exclamation point that's a strong sign that it's not what *I* am saying.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
