Official Panthers - Buccaneers Gameday Thread

Today the Panthers try to clinch their first winning season in five years. With another win against the Bucs they are assured at least a 9 win season. The Bucs have won three straight and could upset the Panthers. Overall it should be another hard fought football game at The Bank.

Where: Bank of America Stadium

When: 1:00

On TV: FOX

On Radio: 1110 WBT

Keys to a Panthers Victory:

- Find their run game. The Panthers rushing attack has all but vanished as of late. They will need a solid ground game if they have aspirations to last into January. Kenjon Barner may get extra carries due to injuries.

- Prevent the long ball. The Bucs surely say how the Panthers were gashed on long passes last week. Look for them to try to take advantage early and often.

- Stay Focused. The Panthers are surely looking ahead to a huge matchup next week against New Orleans. It will be a challenge for them to focus on this week's less than stellar opponent. Trap Game? Yep.

It's the next game, so it's the biggest game of the year. If the team remembers that they should win this. Still think it will be close.

I really wish we could put 35+ on the Bucs to build confidence going into the Taints game.

I wish Big Money was playing.     I really do.     I also hope Shula is prepared to utilize the dinks and dunks to help Cam out with the intense pressure he is sure to be under from the Bucs pass rush.

9-3 sounds pretty dang good though.     Would love it if Cam and our rag tag Panthers have the longest win streak in franchise history today.

    • There's only two paths to that happening. First is that Theilen misses a significant chunk of the season, the other is that XL and Coker both either flop or have injuries themselves. I love the pickup of Renfrow as I think he'll be great in the locker/film room for all the young guys while giving us a natural replacement of Thielen in the WR room next year to be the wiley old vet in the room. But he has almost no path to getting snaps this year unless the guys ahead of him have injuries or just suck.  Assuming he makes he squad, he's more likely to be inactive more often than he's active on game days.   And he's not the best route runner on the team, that's still Thielen, who even at this point in his career is still one of the better route runners in the league.
    • I'll go ahead and say it because the average poster is too scared to say it.  Hunter Renfrow is the best route runner on the team.  He will catch more balls than a couple of those dudes added together.  It's Short King season!   Get on the wagon while there are still seats available!
    • But that's the WR4 this year, we only have one year left of Thielen. If Coker has injury issues and/or regresses and shows why he went undrafted, unless Horn ends up REALLY living up to the minicamp hype, we'd actually end up in need of another good WR option next offseason again. I love the potential of T-Mac, XL, Coker, Horn as our 1-4 next year and into the future. And while I of course have a million percent belief that T-Mac is going to be that guy for us, it's still a big year for the rest of the WR room to prove we're set at the position for the foreseeable future once Thielen is gone after the season.
