how can it not be captain? he took up vocal defense of this defensive secondary unit in the press and on the field. he had two sacks from the cornerback position and a pick-six at a time when everyone in the stands had a sinking feeling we were about to re-watch an old panthers script again.

everyone else did what they were supposed to do. captain munnerlyn did what he was supposed to do and much, much more. game ball.

thought newton had his best day of the year - they really dialed back the offense in the second half and just ran. He could have ended up with 400 today if they would have let him. But of course, as always, not even 300.

Comments like this are why Newton homers get so much crap on here. Newton managed the game today. But he was nowhere near the level that you say. And it was not one of his best games of the year....

And that us actually a good thing. This team has evolved to the level that does not require a great game by Cam to win. If he manages the team and dies not make mistakes we are winning...and that makes us a very balanced and dangerous team.

BS.

Newton made huge throws down the field - he was near perfect. Didn't turn the ball over, had 230 yards at the half for chrissake. Then he was nuetered in the gameplan and we sat on the lead instead of letting him continue to fire. All of his throws were tight and medium to deep.  If he played in an offense that truly kept pouring it on like some around the league he would have thrown for 400 yards today.

Cam hits 66% of his passes for almost 300 yards and no turnovers in a must win game?  Same typical thread-shitting, passive-aggressive horseshit posts from all the same people.

Anyways, game ball to Munnerlyn, DeAngelo and/or Jason Williams.

    • Taking only players from the sheet that are realistically available in or after the listed round, I’d like… 1st: DT Caleb Banks (Styles not realistic) 2nd: LB Jacob Rodriguez 3rd: OT Best available from Bowry, Barber, and Casey 4th: CB Daylen Everette 5th: S Jalen Huskey 6th: RB Adam Randall 7th: IOL Best available from Lemieux, Dawkins, Leausa, and Brose   I know nothing about some of the players listed, but it seems like that would be the best way it could fall for now. I’m sure the list of who we meet will change a ton, and there will also be players we don’t meet with to keep quiet. I’d love to pick up Randall in the late rounds.
    • Not what I said. They know within the building why we aren't utilizing TEs more. If the rumors were true that we were seriously pursuing a couple of decent receiving TEs that strongly points toward a lack of quality receiving TEs currently on the roster. Does that mean we consider drafting one at 19? I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me and if we did there's only one guy it would be. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see TE drafting somewhere in the first three rounds.
    • Yeah, I don’t know. Tepper was behind the Bryce selection. Behind firings and hiring over his lack of development.  He doesn’t have to literally tell them their hands are tied for them to know this. It is in the air constantly. The Canales Bryce play calling was even portrayed by more than one person as Canales failing Bryce, instead of Bryce being responsible for his own performance (except when he does well, then it is all him). Now they have an extra coach in, to help the new OC get results from this QB.  The atmosphere is not welcoming to prototypical young QBs that have talent. You get Jake Plummer types or old vets. I think we are stuck.
