Does anybody else agree that charlotte has too many damn people?

Traffic is terrible if you drive 485 to South Charlotte, or if you have to get on 85 and try to get on Harris and whatnot.  I've did both for jobs and usually spent an hour in the car each way, each day.  Difference between here and other places, is there is no other means of getting places.  This is why CNN rated us like the #1 gas guzzling city in America despite having lower pop than other cities.  Triangle area was like #3.    This place grew too fast for the road system and now at 4:30/5pm it's like someone stepping on an ant hill and everyone going each and every way and stuck.

charlotte's problem is its underdeveloped and borderline neglected arteries and the resulting choke points like 85-77, buster boyd, 85-harris...south boulevard... 85 south on the other side of the river...485-77...  independence used to be a nightmare.

driving around inside of charlotte for the most part isn't that bad.  getting in and out fuging sucks though.  south park/ballantyne/myers park is probably the worst area to get in and out of internally.

As a Washingtonian, I laugh at your supposedly crowded city.

Yes DC is a small city geographically, and may not have that many people who are citizens, but when you factor in that EVERYONE between DC and West Virginia (No shiz, I know more than a handful of people who either take the train or drive 3 hours each way) comes into the city during working hours, then you may begin to imagine the hell that is my commute.

Let's put it this way; I'm actually considering moving to Charlotte so I can have a big city feel without the crowds.

psshh.  I moved here in 1970.  There wasn't even liquor by the drink back then.  Charlotte may have growing pains but they are nothing compared to the hells that are DC or Atlanta.

traffic is not an indicator of how "major" a city is.  Our streets are relatively well thought-out and planned for.  And when a road isn't well planned, everyone bitches about it until it gets fixed. (I-485 in ballantyne)
