We could still lose the 2nd seed.

As I look at the standings right now. We still could lose the 2nd seed on Sunday. You ask me how is that possible.

Well say we lose to the Falcons, but the Saints lose to the Bucs as well. So we win the division and you think we have a bye week and 2nd seed right? Not so fast. Now to the 49ers and Seahawks. If the 49ers beat the Cards and then the Seahawks lose to the Rams. 49ers win their division and they get the 1 seed because we lost to the Falcons. With 49ers having a better record then us and so would the Seahawks. 49ers would have the 1st seed and Seahawks would have the 2nd seed. There by putting us in the 3rd seed with one home game  in the WC with no bye. Botttom line if we lose to the Falcons on Sunday, but still win the division title. We better hope the 49ers lose to the Cards for us to keep that 2nd seed and the bye.

You have to win your division in order to be anything other than a wildcard. It is impossible for Seattle and SF to be the top 2 seeds.

Edit: you guys are fast

Division winners are from 1-4. The records from those top 4 teams of those divisions are ranked from 1-4.

In short, we can only lose the number 2 seed to NO by losing and them winning

Hmmm.. Really!! Maybe I didn't take that into account. I thought the teams with the 2 highest records could get the bye weeks and home field. Didn't think about that. LOL

I should of thought this through a little better. If a mod feels he/she needs to close this thread. I would understand it. :)

Shut up.  You did nothing wrong.  None of us know everything all of the time.

You are among friends and we do not accept your apology because it is not needed.

Pie just for shits and giggles, a Panther playoff berth and because it is the Christmas season.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
