Thats what I am saying. Why worry about contracts, coaching changes, the draft etc right now? Let's all enjoy this. This year can turn out pretty special for us. I remember all the down years and I am just so proud of this team. We aren't done yet. Soak it in. Enjoy the new year and watch the playoff games this weekend knowing that we are next the following weekend. Go Panthers!

This team is truly special.  I heard Smitty on the radio yesterday and he was talking about how many people were supposed to be in for treatment on Monday morning.

He was obviously supposed to be there due to his rehab on the knee, he said there were like 15-20 players that were to go through treatment but most of them and more players that weren't required to be there skipped treatment to get into the meeting rooms and film rooms to go over what they need to improve on.

I've been a fan since day one and I don't recall ever hearing about a team being this focused on what's next.  We could really be in for a special run here folks.  Enjoy it all!

Good point Hatter... Im just not sold on SEAs O, maybe because I only watched them week1...

I think that our D and SF's D can give Seattle trouble.

Green Bay's defense is just atrocious.  They are lucky that Chicago went all Nakamura on them....or they would be sitting at home.

I am certainly looking forward to a few more games, but '08 is still a memory that burns... I hope Chico & company knock the post-bye monkey off, need it now more than ever...

Philly wins, comes to us, GB wins 2 then prolly comes to us for the NFCCG.. Fug prognosticating, 1 game at a time.....

Steve Smith was on WFNZ yesterday, and I called in and asked him specifically about that 08 game.  I told him that collectively as fans we we're still sort of scarred from that 08 Arizona loss, and we were sort of sitting on pins needles hoping that doesn't happen again.  Then I asked him if they ever talk about that game as motivation.   I should have been more specific in reference to the veteran players that played in that game that are still on the team.   Either way, he was sort of a dick about it.  His response..... "Let's be honest, we had a different shade of QB back then."

So Smitty is still one of my favorite players and I love the fact he gave me chance to ask him some questions especially in playoff season, but I didn't t ask anything offensive, and I don't know why race was brought into the equation.....especially when he was in a Dukes of Hazzard Bojangles commercial with the guy.

Obviously Cam is better, but it's not because he's black, it's because he's just physically a lot better.  So I came away from that conversation with Smitty yesterday just like "WTF does that have to do with anything I just asked."

Either way go Panthers.

You are so right. The funny thing is, I've always believed if any team could go on a serious winning streak it would be the Panthers.

All One had to do was look back at the past two seasons, what happened? The defense found some strenght near the end of the season and the team went on a winning streak. It was to late but I believed that this team was capable because they showed twice even thou they weren't on top of their game. I hope the streak continues all the way to a SB ring.

as hard as it was, looking back at last year, we were seriously only inches away from being 10-6 or even 11-5.  we were pretty unlucky, two examples:  went the first 12 or so games without winning a coin toss, and i wanna say only one FG was missed against us last year, something like that and many others.  One thing is for sure, luck has been on our side this year and it is usually on every Super Bowl winners side.

Is that exactly what Smitty said?  Just curious...  maybe by "shade" he wasn't implying race, idk?  From everything I've ever heard him and Jake were pretty tight... no?

I suspect he just doesn't like talking about that game...  it sucked.  Hell, I don't want to talk about it...

Yeah pretty much, you can go back and listen to it if you want on wfnz.com.  I'm not sure what hour it's in.  It just struck me as peculiar.

Edit:   I didn't bring it up in a thread just because I didn't want to start controversy.  I'm just saying Andrew Luck is pretty athletic too, race has nothing to do with it.

I can almost guarantee you that he wasn't talking about race.  There's no context that implies he is.  By "shade" he means "level".  He was referencing the fact that Jake Delhomme blew that game, without straight up saying those words.

Smitty is a lot like Cam in that he frequently misuses words, or uses words that are just close to the meaning he's going for.

I hope so man, but I really don't think I remembering this wrong.  Obviously through that comment he's sort of secretly blaming it on Jake, and rightfully so, but to say, "Lets be honest.....we had a different shade of QB back then."  Leaves it up for debate.

Sure, I think he could have used less ambiguous words there.  But he wasn't in a press conference setting or anything, so he probably wasn't thinking about his diction too much.

Based on all I know about Smitty, I think what he meant was "Cam is on a different level than Jake.  He won't blow it the way Jake did."

Think about it this way.  If Cam had shown a tendency to occasionally implode and throw 4+ picks in his bad games, then we'd say that he has "shades of Jake Delhomme" in him.  I think that's the kind of way he was trying to use that word.

If you take a look at Smitty, it would seem he would be the antithesis of a racist because quite honestly he's married to a white woman and all that.

Just listen to it for yourself.  It should be on WFNZ's website.  I spoke to him between 3 and 4:30pm.  I'm Scott from Asheville.  Listen to it and make your own judgement about it.  I don't think he used the word "shade" as a synonym for the word "level" though.  You can tell by the context of his tone.  Either way it's not a big deal.  But judge for yourself by listening to it.

Servent of Whatever is right. I heard it as him saying Cam is of a different level than Jake. I don't think it was meant as racist, but even if it was, so what? it would've been meant entirely as a joke. You're reading too far into it. It's not a big deal either way. Lighten up
