PFT says Redskins should interview Shula

That's how a franchise goes from just plain train wreck to train wreck into a nuclear reactor.

Dude, get with the program. You're varying from the theme of the thread. LOL

Shula is obviously the man to get the train back on the rails and moving in the right direction. Clearly.

not that shula would be a good head coach but it's pretty funny how many people want him out of here so we can what?  bring a new guy in, have a new system, make Cam have his 3rd OC in 4 years... yea brilliant

Well, your logic isn't the epitome of brilliance  either.

Everyone here is bashing Shula.....yet Cam speaks VERY highly of him.

Maybe (just maybe) the players know more than the avg Huddler....myself included.

Point taken! But, as I see it, the offense has taken a considerable step back.  Shula has Cam on training wheels. Now of course  it can be argued that perhaps it's because we don't have the necessary tools on offense, but Shula does have a track record, and this season was not indicative of any type of deviation.

We don't want Shula gone. He can have Dorsey's job

Florio is an idiot. I'll never understand how/why his stupid little blog gets so much traffic.

logic is sketchy.  my favorite part is in the comments,.......... "So…… each time in my career I came up with one really good idea….. I should have gotten calls from firms to take over as their CEO?"

here is part of article;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the Redskins continue to add names to their list of potential head-coaching candidates, the guy who is now running the show in D.C. seems to be missing the most obvious one.

Especially as the Redskins reportedly prepare to go to Charlotte to interview defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.

While in the building, why not also talk to Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula?

In only one year running the offense in Carolina, where the head coach is a defensive specialist, Shula has managed to get the most out of quarterback Cam Newton, from both a production and maturity standpoint.  As coach Ron Riveratold PFT Live last month, it was Shula who decided during a slow start to the season to scour over all of Newton’s plays while at Auburn in search of concepts and plays that may work.

And the idea worked.  The Panthers finished with an 11-5 record after a 1-3 start, nailing down the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game in the divisional round.

But Shula hasn’t even gotten a sniff, from the Redskins or anyone else.  Given what Shula has done with Newton, teams with franchise quarterbacks who have yet to reach their full potential (i.e., Washington and Detroit) should at a minimum bring Shula in, if for no reason other than to pick his brain about how he has gotten the most out of Newton.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

............of course, someone should proof the record of 11-5 he quoted

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
