Brazil has given special training for more than 10,000 members of an elite federal security force to help better control demonstrations expected during the World Cup later this year, the Justice Ministry and a top security official said Friday.

Col. Alexandre Augusto Aragon, who heads the elite National Security Force, said that 10,000 riot troops selected from state police forces throughout Brazil will be deployed in the 12 cities that will host World Cup matches June 12-July 13.

"We've have been concerned with this (security during the World Cup) before the protests that took place earlier ... because we don't wait around for things to happen," he told the G1 Internet portal for Globo news. "The violence of recent protests is what scared us."

Because corporate sponsors would have to contribute to a fund to pay for all the cops needed to maintain some kind of order.

In the meantime, soccer continues to be very popular for kids in this country...

Soccer is growing in popularity, the problem is American soccer isn't. Most soccer fans would rather watch Premier League than MLS. I really don't know what the OPs premise has to do with the US. As for the "nu uh Football is better" arguement.....The NFL has it's own problems to worry about. Fans bitch 24/7 that the game isn't as good as it used to be. With injuries and deaths getting attention in the media Football will change or die in the next 30 years. We could lose our taste for it like Baseball and Boxing. Soccer could take some of the eyeballs.

The main reason soccer is not more popular is that our best athletes play other sports, making our league second, or even third rate.  Following MLS is like following AA baseball, or Division 2 football, it just is not the same as watching the elite.  If our best athletes went on and played in MLS then it would be an elite league, our national team would be elite and compete for World Cups, and American fans would flock to the game.

soccer will never be popular because the sport has a long history of being played by a bunch of pussies who flop and roll around on the field with torn labia.  They could all use a little coaching up from one Mr Smith.

Many of the international fans consider flopping to be an "art" and not a dishonest travesty.

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
    • Somehow this channel has been uploading NFL games, few are Panthers games just scroll.  https://www.youtube.com/@frankiesacco/videos
