RG3: "Boy Emperor"

From the Washington Post...

Will Robert Griffin III help or hurt the next Redskins coach?

Previous Washington Redskins coaches only had to deal with one divisive influence at the top of the franchise. Now there are two. The next head coach will have to cope not just with owner-supremo Daniel Snyder’s interference, but with the added complication of a 23-year-old boy emperor who believes he can dictate everything from the play-calling to what’s served at training table.

Once, Griffin was an immensely likable, unpretentious kid who was wide open to collaboration. But according to insiders, Griffin’s public campaign to have the offense altered for him was just the tip of his egotism in his second year. Behind closed doors, Griffin had fierce finger-pointing tensions with his wide receivers, and he bragged to teammates that he could procure favors from the owner and influence the franchise’s direction.

Try winning with a quarterback who has alienated his receivers and members of the offensive line. Any head coaching candidate has to be concerned about the locker room bad blood we all saw evidence of this season. Griffin sat on the ground after sacks and no one helped him up. We all heard, too, Pierre Garcon’s barely contained anger, and Santana Moss’s remarkable public lecture that Griffin needed to quit blaming others and take responsibility for his own failures. It was a significant break with protocol and suggested how badly relationships had eroded; players almost always feel duty-bound to support their quarterback.

Seriously hope McDermott doesn't get this job.

But the article asks a valid question.

How is a coach supposed to have any authority when the quarterback can just "run to daddy"?

Oh yea, no doubt it comes down to RG3

That is why they need a coach to bitch slap him and tell him to sit the fug down and shut the fug up

And Snyder needs to be hands fuging off, if RG3 is benched so be it

    • I mean, no I’m not going to panic when he got 2 Qs and looked great in 1 and looked not great in another (let’s not mention the drop).    Yeah we finally have a team that would be considered average offensively around him. Let’s roll this season.
    • The woe is me everything but Bryce sucks mantra is stale af my friend. Look nobody here is going to argue with the fact Frank Reich was not a good head coach. At the same time. Bryce Young is now in his second season with his second coaching staff and a handpicked young offensive head coach who has been known for working with QB's such as Baker and Geno. As far as the offensive pieces around Bryce we have the 4th highest salary cap allocation (that might be even higher now after the new Moton deal) dedicated to the OL in the entire league. We have 2 first round WR's one of them 8th overall the first time we've ever selected a WR that high in franchise history. And the fact of the matter is Bryce Young did not have a good preseason. It's not the first time it's happened either. We all hope to see he and the rest of the team flip a switch in week 1. But we should all be able to agree that the offensive performances we've seen from the entire QB room (Bryce included) in preseason was simply unacceptable.
    • We have seen Bryce play… what… 9 games with AT BEST what one would consider NFL average WRs? You just can’t see the forest for the trees and keep going back to your lazy take of revisionist history.    he looked AWFUL Y1 with the worst coaching I’ve ever seen in the NFL and one of the weakest WR rooms I can recall. He looked awful first half of y2 and great second half of y2 with average coaching and average skill position. I don’t know where this elite talent argument even comes from.
