While Newton struggles against top passing defenses, Kaepernick is worse

yeah Lol.

But  the thing is, Kaep hasn't lost since Crabtree came back. Since '12.

And other than Arizona they haven't beat a good defense on the road during that stretch. The 49ers have feasted on poor defense including the Packers last Sunday. Even against Seattle at home his QBR was 50. It wont matter who he has to throw to if he cant scan the field and always goes for the long ball. He wont have all day and plenty of running lanes this week.

Lots of QBs struggle against good pass defenses. That is why they are top pass defenses.

The difference is that Cam doesn't struggle that much against good defenses at ho.e as much as the road. With the exception of Arizona 2 weeks ago Kaepernick has struggled against all good defenses especially on the road. Even against Arizona his QBR was 50 which was his best. Meanwhile 50 is the worse Newton has done at home versus NO a few weeks back.

the 49ers are not a good road team at all. Their road wins were against teams with awful defenses with the exception of the Arizona game.

http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/82232/challenges-await-kaepernick-newton

Kaepernick was tops in the league against NFL defenses in the bottom half of the league (ranked 17-32 in defensive QBR)

He was 9-0 with 9.1 yards per attempt, 18 TDs versus 0 Ints and a total QBR of 91. Against top 16

defenses he was 3-4 with 6.2 yards a play, 7 TDs versus 8 Ints and a QBR of 31.

Newton was 5th against bottom 16 defenses with a 7-0 record, 8.3 yards per attempt, 16 TDs and 5 Ints with a total QBR of 78. Against top 16 defenses he had a 5-4 record, 6.3 yards per attempt, 14 TDs versus 8 Ints and a QBR of 39. The biggest difference was Newton's 74 QBR against Seattle versus Kaepernick's 14 and 41 QBR in their 2 games.

While it favors Cam the difference isn't that big.

But:

More telling is Cam's QBR against teams in the top 16 at home which is 74 versus Kaepernick's QBR against teams in the top 16 on the road which is 33.

Cam's record at home against top defenses: 3-1

Kaepernick's record on the road against top defenses: 1-2

And one wonders how much better those stats would be if Cam was under center of the 49ers insteadof the Panthers. A rreality many seem way to happy to ignore. I guess that's because he's not Luck.

in the porno you watch or those wet dreams you have? Those are quite the fantasys.

But I digress.

Y u so mad, philly. enough with the spiteful banter & Atlanta falcons tried to play dark horse to both our teams pretty close to. Who has stats on Cam & Colin's 4th qtr comebacks?

How many 4th quarter comebacks has Kaepernick have against teams with good defenses on the road this year? 1? Against Arizona? I think Cam had at least 3 at home this year. That is the point really. Cam is much better at home and Kaepernick is not good on the road particularly against top defense. If this were at Candlestick again I would be a lot more concerned. And only ignorant 49er fans shouldn't be.

Btw what was Atlantas ranking last year on defense.

You might worry about that but I am happy he plays here as a Panther. I don't look at individual stats or play the what if game. This is a team sport.

If you play that game then wonder how he would do in Jacksonville.

Biggest difference: Cam loses his most dangerous weapon in Steve Smith...goes out and wins anyway.

Krapperbitch loses his most dangerous weapon in Crabtree...everybody blames that for why he struggled to do well and win games.

You do realize Kaepernick was 8-4 without him.  They can win without him. 5-0 with him, which doesnt bode well for opposing defenses.  Not bad really for a guy in his first full year as starter.

Isnt this Cam's 3rd year as a fulltime starter? How good was he during his first full year as a starter against those defenses? He probably got better eh?

I find it humorous you think the 49ers are not a good road team at all, when my most talking heads consider them the best road team in the nfl.  THey went 7-2 this year so far. 8-1 if a call gets called correctly. And though its just 2 games, the 49ers and Kaepernick are undefeated on the road in the playoffs. But It isnt Kaepernick vs the panthers, its 49ers vs panthers, and 49ers are a stout road team except in seattle for some reason.

Yea but y'all have never played a top defense in the playoffs. This ain't Green Bay or ATL.

You play who you are scheduled to play.  Panthers havent played a top team defense in the playoffs either.

Correct me if I am wrong, but without Crab tree the Niners scored 30+ points 6 times. With him they have only done that twice.

The 9'ers like to hold up Crabtree as if he is their talisman. Everything will be different this time because of Crabtree.

What happens if he goes down early in the game? Should they just give up? Because it sounds to me as if they think they are exponentially better with him.

Not buying it. One player (outside of QB) doesn't make or break a team.

8-4 without Crabtree, 5-0 with him.  You tell me. They can certainly win without him, but they are clearly better with him. Why? Part of the reason is Boldin is their only other respected dangerous receiver, and teams could easily double up on him or bring in a safety in support for Boldin because none of the other reecivers demanded attention.  To put it another way- Crabtree sat until november, and he's the 2nd wr to catch a td pass, and is 3rd leading receiver already.

Now onto how it makes Kap better- without crabtree 192 yards per game.  AFter he came back 222 ypg.   15:7 td int ratio without him in 12 games.  7:2 td int ratio with him in 5 games..

Clearly he makes a difference for the 49ers, and he's got fresh legs.   I think he makes a difference sunday.

What I thought about and didnt realize is that this isnt the same Cam Newton that played the 49ers in Week 10.  Since then he has had 3 GW drives against some of the NFLs best teams to propel this team to where they are today.  I think he will come out at a whole new level this sunday and show everyone why he is the future.

There's this video on NFL Network where all the analyst pick Kap over Cam in this game.  Some say weapons (understandable), most say playoff experience (overrated aspect in my opinion) but Kap knows what hes doing and hes peaking at the right time and he destroyed the Packers defense (all things that are irrelevant).  It literally had me shaking my head.  It was so dumb.
