Say Hardy walks...

If I'm correct, right now we have around 15 mil in cap space.

By making Dwill and Godfrey "June 1" cuts, that would free another additional 5-6 mil bumping us to 21mil. Some guys will be retained, but hopefully others will too restructure their contracts: Stewart, CJ, Olsen, Smitty, Khalil, and TD.

We should be able to make at least 1 or 2 bold moves, but Im not a fan of Eric Decker. I just dont see Decker having that kind of impact he is having in Denver here in Carolina. I'd rather go Nicks or probably a cheaper mover "Golden Tate".

I rather have Decker who is more durable than nicks and talent wise  Decker > Nicks.......but the best option is to draft a WR ....usually FA WR do not live up the expectation especially the ones who are injury prone

Nicks scares me, and would cost more… and what has Mario done? or Tate? I may be totally wrong here but isn't Mario and Tate close to the same as a Ginn or  Lafell? Decker does have Manning but it cant be all Manning. He didn't have the yards before he came but he did have the TD's. We need targets. Im not saying Decker would be all we need but it would be a damn good start.

lol Golden tate is way way way better than Lafell and Decker is a product of peyton and he still drops the ball a lot.

Nicks is a risk but for the right price he could be worth it. playing in his hometown could motivate him to focus on his health and play up to his full potential.

if hardy walks, what you have to do is look at whatever contract numbers he gets from his new team and compare that to what we do with that money saved.

people are all concerned about making sure that we get something for hardy...well...cap space is something. if it helps lock up guys like cam and keek down the road and also allow us to bring in more talent in key areas without seeing a significant drop off in defense but seeing improvement on offense, then it was a good decision.

i like hardy, but as good as he is and as dominant a personality as he has, he's not worth sacrificing talent in other areas.

if we didn't have stewart's contract hanging over our heads and if CJ hadn't been given the monstrous contract he was (which i think was probably overkill), and of course weren't still dealing with leftover crappy cap stuff thanks to hurndog, we might not be in this situation.

but we are.

i hope we can work it out for him to stay, but i have to have faith in gettleman that he will make this team stronger in spite of losing hardy if that happens.

Best post about this situation, the more I think about it the more I think Hardy walk for nothing, but honestly when you have the issues that we do, it's just one of those things that you can't do anything about, I just hope he lands in the AFC and not the NFC that way we don't have to face him often.

Well looking at the stats Tate and Lafell are not that much apart. Im just saying he's not a number one guy. If he was our number 2 that would be great.

The Panther's will have 11.6 million in rollover. The salary cap is going to be somewhere around 127.5 million. Which gives the team an adjusted cap limit of 139.1.

The Panther's currently have over 12.2 million in dead money and a cap figure of 111.5 for next season. Add them together and you have 123.7 million, which gives the Panthers around 15.3 million in available space.

Lol at people saying Decker is a product of Peyton...

In highschool he was ranked the NUMBER ONE WR in the country.... in college he was an ELITE top 5 WR....

He still carries that into the pros. He is sure handed, dosent get rattled, strong, smart.

I say we have enough for Hardy. Other than Luke Cam Hardy no one else deserves big money?

He was pretty confident in his press that we are good with the hog mollies.

You guys rollllll with the popular opinion

No Decker. He is a product of Peyton. I do like Hakeem Nicks and/or Mario Manningham. I also am a fan of D-Will and would like to retain him and pray he takes a pay cut...

Decker is not a product of Manning. Decker was putting up good numbers with Kyle Orton before The Golden Calf of Bristol came and handicapped the passing game. If you look at the first four games that Orton played completely, Decker put up 270 yards and 4 TDs. If you extrapolate that unitl the end of the season, Decker would have been a thousand yard receiver if Orton hadn't been axed. Not to mention the TDs. I, and others, don't believe that Decker is a true WR1, but he can put up WR1 numbers when defenses are focusing on someone else, which makes him probably the most coveted WR in free agency, particularly if you base his value on his production. Don't get it twisted, Decker is a good route runner, and he is an excellent red zone threat.  With Cam, Smitty, Olsen and another legitimate threat at WR on the field, Decker could do wonders for an offense.

Now, I don't think that Decker is in the cards for the Panthers because of his price tag, but don't be surprised when he gets a bigger contract than Nicks or Manningham because he's largely outplayed them both.  If you watch the game this weekend, keep an objective eye on Decker, and imagine him within the context of our offense.  He's a much better route runner than you're giving him credit for.

That is all fine and dandy but it really comes down to what you produce as a NFL player. Elite top 5 WR dont go in the 3rd rd of drafts either.

He is currently the 4th option in Denver behind D Thomas J Thomas and Welker. He is good but he will not meet expectations on another team. Peyton makes him great. I would compare it to how Aaron rodgers made greg jennings great.
