Son of a Beach--Mock Draft I

I really like the first two picks...Mewhort is better than Bitonio, who some on this board are touting, although it doesn't appear they have ever watched him..or at least I hope they haven't if they come away that impressed. I think Lee will fall, in just the scenario you described..if he does we take him 100%. Mewhort will definately be the best tackle on the board, he is a damn good run blocker who blocks with control and changes the direction of his defender rather than bulldozing them.

I agree.  I was drawn to Bitioni at first but his frame is concerning for the NFL level.  Also, he just didn't seem to push consistently on tape enough.  I hate ragging on player's size but it's a big deal at LT.  I think he'll impress though but don't see him as a fit with the Panthers.  From what I've seen, Mewhort definitely carves running lanes.

I keep changing my mock drafts.  Now, I'm thinking we should go after a DE and DT because CJ, Cole, and Edwards are getting older and I think we should start getting some younger guys.  As of right now, my current mock draft:

1st RD - Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt

2nd RD - Seantrel Henderson, OT, Miami

3rd RD - Dominique Easley, DT, Florida

4th RD - Kareem Martin, DE, North Carolina

5th RD - Andre Hal, CB, Vanderbilt

6th RD - La'Damian Washington, WR, Missouri

7th RD - Hakeem Smith, SS, Louisville

I was one who was impressed with Bitonio, especially since I was looking for a late round guy.  What film are you watching?

I do wish his arms were a bit longer, but if he were perfect, he'd be in the first and not a late rounder

As a late rounder he would be ok. Problem is that he has a 2nd round grade as of now and a better player can be had there. I have concerns with him getting driven back vs the bull rush and not dominating in the run game. Especially going against the level of talent he went against in the Mountain West. On a positive note, I do love his feet and he can handle speed guys.

I am thinking something like this

1st -  WR Jordan Mathews

2nd - OT Jake Mewhort

3rd - WR Brandon Coleman

4th - DE Kareem Martin

I'm ok drafting a DE as well.  One of our starter needs at CB, OL, S, DE (potentially), or WR will have to be filled in the FA regardless so am hoping that Gettleman continues the BPA plan according to our big board.
