What will Cam do

Money talks.  If he doesn't get a contract/treatment befitting his status as the top young QB in the league.......he will end up with a big blue star on his silver helmet in a couple of seasons.  Just saying.  That skeletor looking dude in Texas throws money at everybody; and in a season or two Romo won't be a Cowboy anymore.

Better yet, the Bengals.

The heck with that

6 yr 75 mill is about right.

No way he should be paid like Manning, Brees or Brady

He should be tiered with Luck, Wilson, Kaep and not the other three

Cam's agent is the one that just got Cutler that massive paycheck to the tune of 54 million guranteed and an average of 18 million a season. Can has proven he means more to the Panthers and will likely get more then Cutler on his new deal.

He would laugh at your proposal just like Wilson and luck would.

Lmao at thinking 15 million a season is going to get it done.

That's one of the funniest things I've read on here in a while. Cam's deal will be like cutler's on the low end.

The amazing thing about Cam is that I truly believe he has shown he is a franchise QB. Cam has an in it factor. Regardless of what you think about his personality or the 1st down celebration. Cam simply makes plays. Those 4th qtr comebacks reminded me of Jake in his prime. Good QB's come from behind and win big time games. And Cam is 10,000 times more talented than Jake and about as cerebral as a player right now. Imagine what Cam can do with a big time #1 and Steve Smith in the slot? With Olsen and Tolbert? You can't stop that.  As anemic as the offense was this year it still had the ability at times to put up points. Cam is what makes our offense go.

We are locking his ass up

We not paying Cam compared to Manning or Brady.  We'll pay him compared to what his value is on the open market.  To what another team is willing to pay him.  Are there a few teams out there willing to pay him close to 20 million a year.  Most likely.

That means if we want to keep him that's the going rate.  It doesn't matter if he's as good as some of the other players making that kind of money.  As long as the NFL is a QB driven league and as long as there isn't enough elite QB's to go around you're going to have inflated contracts.

If you're the Browns or the Jags are you willing to pay Cam 20 million a year?  In a heartbeat they would.  They'd probably pay 25 a year because of the difference he'd make on their teams.  So, unless you want the Panthers to become the Browns then you better pay Cam.

Just getting a decent QB is hard.  Getting a good one is harder.  Getting an elite one is just luck.  If there is even a chance that Cam can become one of the good ones, you pay him.  If there's a chance he can be elite, then pay him the house.

You're also not just paying for Cam, you're paying for not having to be a team looking for a QB.  Some teams take decades to just find a decent QB.  Cam is easily Cutler or Flaco good with potential to be elite.  Pay him.

Other than 12mil being on the low side, I agree on this. Cam and that SF qb, are going to set the bar for the new era of QB. But, to me, they have not yet risen to that 20mil group. So it should be close to 15mil. Other than that, I have no clue.

How long of a contract is Cam happy with? He got shorted his first one, and still made 20mil. If he takes a shorter deal, he may get 2 big deals. If he takes a longer deal, he may only get 1 big deal. I say...make him give us a home team discount, cuz he makes plenty of money in endorsements he is able and willing to give us a "for the good of the team" deal. That way, we get our QB for evs cuz he loves us, and wants us to be happy, so he always signs fair contracts.

Bradford got more than that just for being drafted. Fair or not, these rookie-scale-era players are gonna be looking for more than that. Similarly, last offseason Stafford signed a 3-year, $53 million extension ($17.67 per).

The only other QB Bus Cook clients are Cutler and Wilson, and of course Cutler just got over $18 mil per. Cook also represents Calvin Johnson, for whom he got $18.85 mil per.

Flacco and Ryan make over $20 mil per as well, so unfortunately it's not just Brady, Brees, and Manning that make Brady, Brees, Manning-money.

Bad math.

stirs wasn't saying $15 million a season.

He was saying $12.5 million.

Which would, of course, accomplish exactly what stirs has wanted all along.

Then (in his world) we could sign Geno Smith after the Jets dump him and go back to being a bottom feeder again... but stirs would be happy.

Cam is playing on a far more inferior team and is doing what he does with far less than the young QBs.Yet all you would hear is what they need around them to make them "elite."  The Panthers was truly the Colts when Peyton joined that team in 1989. Cam, IMO, is today's  Peyton Manning but without the push from those in the media to build around him. I feel Cam would prefer if this team gives him some consistent and dependable weapons along with paying him a very decent package.
