I believe that many people are critical of Cam because they just don't like him (for some odd reason...), and other have fed off the bullshit.

Even still, I believe others though somewhat critical of Cam, just want him to reach his full potential.

Me? I've always supported Cam, though I've admittedly been skeptical of his decision making in the past. He greatly improved in that area since the second part of the 2012 season and really hasn't looked back. He isn't perfect, but who is? Considering that he hasn't had a sufficient number of weapons, and arguably not the most efficient use of the ones that he's had, in terms of play calling, I think he's doing a great job.  He is such a prolific play-maker that I have learned that sometimes you have to take the bad with the good, but to me his good outweighs the bad by a mile at this point, and his overall production reflects that fact. Stats aside, his intangibles are wonderful, and his play on gameday passes the eye test when objectively judged against his peers.

Colin Kaepernick: 2

Tím Tebøw: 1

Peyton Manning: 0

But but...Kaepernick...but but Dalton...BUT BUT The Golden Calf of Bristol!!!

People are so quick to hate Cam.

These numbers mean nothing to me. Numbers are for kids. Cam is a great talent that has exceeded expectations. Every QB comes into the league under unique circumstances. Their teammates and coaches are unique. Some guys deal with health issues despite performing well. The OP is cherry picking statistics to make a point.

I'm really not disputing that Cam has had success. I just think statistics can not quantify it. Steve Smith is at the end of his career and his numbers do not match his performance. Guys like Elway played under different rules. Nowadays a blow to the head is a penalty and a fine. Back when Kerry Collins was a young guy people were headhunting him in preseason games.

That could be it. I was --repeat, was---not high on him because I thought he folded in the fourth quarter.  He did.  My criticism of Cam was based on a few things--all based on his potential to be one of the greatest qbs ever to play the game.

He needed to be more of a leader and understand that role--while his teammates say that was overblown, Cam said that his father and brother talked to him about it and he watched tape and did not like what he saw.  I was thankful to hear that because it made me realize he needed to grow.

Cam needed to understand that winning was the best way to get respect, not self-promotion.  It is difficult to watch a QB pretend he is super man when the team is 2-8.

I am so pleased that these things are no longer issues.  Cam has matured in a football and leader way, and that is great.  I have seen enough to pay the man a franchise QB salary.  The longer the contract the better.  However, Cam needs to work on some things--his accuracy and touch on deep balls are 2 things that hurt us this season.

Do I apologize to anyone for any criticisms of Cam last year and even at the beginning of this season?  NO.  He fixed what I was complaining about, for the most part.  I think people who were singing his praises before he changed should feel stupid.  I guess I coached too long to celebrate potential with undying worship.

For Cam to be great, he does not need to lead the league statistically. Russell Wilson doesn't.  Cam has a stout defense and is about to be given a stout Offense to navigate.

Everyone has a buy-in point, and I was not satisfied that Cam deserved the accolades until I saw him close out games and become a true leader.  He earned the C this season and we won games decided in the 4th quarter.  That is when I bought in.  If others bought in sooner, good for you.  I don't play fantasy football, so maybe that is the difference.

Now you're reaching. OP included all main stats for a QB. OP even included turnovers and you're still trying to find something to argue with. OP didn't even mention the poo Carolina has surrounded Cam with during those 3 years. Being a fan of this team will be alot easier for you when you finally accept Cam for what he is (GOAT) and enjoy the ride!

I'll never understand the hate for this kid. Cam has done everything in his power to try and turn this franchise around. There isn't a single QB other than Cam that could have come to Carolina and do what Cam has with this team. Anyone who watched his first two seasons knows he put this team in position to win numerous times, only to be let down by the D. Did OP even mention he's only 24!

In fact, when Cam's #s are high, we ttend to lose.

THis season will be the difference.  I think Cam will get a new WR or 2, and a better OL.  The rest of NFL does not want that.  Russell WIson is a good game manager because he has a stud run game and the #1 defense supporting him.  Imagine Cam with the same thing?  We were almost as good as the Seahawks with "scrub" DBs, a makeshift OL, and our best WR was a 34-year old angry smurf who has lost a step or two.

Dan Marino played the exact same time Elway did and he put up twice as many touchdowns and fewer turnovers in his first 48 starts. Maybe Elway is just overrated.

I didn't cherry pick anything. I listed the 9 most popular QBs since 1980 & listed their yards, touchdowns, turnovers from their first 48 starts. I can't help Cam's production makes some of those guys, like Elway, look average.

Cam's numbers are all from 48 starts his first 3 seasons. Guys on that list like Elway have 500-700 yards & 5-10 touchdowns padded to their totals from games their first few years they played in garbage time but didn't actually start. And don't forget that fumbles weren't a stat back when Elway's first 48 starts occurred. Cam's turnover number are interceptions and lost fumbles combined, Elway's is only interceptions.

Not to mention every single guy listed had a better offense surrounding them.

If it's because Cam plays in a different era and it's easier how come not a single QB from the '00s could match his 3-yr production?

Thanks for posting this. I think sometimes as fans we can be way more critical of Cam than we should be, at least I am. Anyone else remember when people questioned his arm strength?

Never recalled anyone questioning his "arm strength (though yes, that would classify as blatantly over critical)"? Lol

However, I do agree with your first sentence, sentiments.
