4K TV

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

So today while the future wife and teenage future stepdaughter were discussing the subtle nuances of several pairs of boots, the teenage future stepson and I decided we'd rather be checking out electronics and took off to a conveniently nearby Best Buy store.

While there, I got my first in-person look at a Samsung 4K TV.

My word, it was fantastic

Part of me almost wishes I hadn't seen it. Mind you, I've got a great TV, but this was like nothing I've ever seen before.

The network infrastructure will need to catch up before this becomes main stream. It will be fairly useless on the average broadband connection today.

Blu Ray will catch up faster than that though.

I researched HDTVs for months before buying one.  This?  Probably a few years before I'll be ready to go for it.  Kind of got other priorities at the moment.

By my electronic lust has definitely gained a new object

Bit of advice, stop buying off the shelf media.

The future is streaming media. You won't be able to purchase a disc of any kind in 10 years.

Getting a WiFi blu-ray player soon.

I agree it's going in that direction, but I don't think it'll go completely away.

Blu Ray is also catching up with DVD's to be obsolete.

Why litter your home with crap when you can buy a movie and stream it in high definition at any time from anywhere?

I haven't purchased a physical movie in several years and never will again.

the thing to know about 4K tv is, most are only running 4K resolution at 30hz.  If you are using for a pc gaming or anything like that, its not cut out for that.  Video will be fine. This is the tv I bought and will arrive today,

Its way better than what I have now and theres no point in spending $3K on new technology until its refined.  The upscaling on this should be pretty nice.  If not back to walmart it goes.

    • Lol. The Texans are literally one of Bryce's six career NFL wins. WTF are you talking about?
    • Yeah, I mean it is a statistical fact and also part of literally a player evaluation. Winston has literally lost dozens of games in his NFL career due to crippling TO's. It's just who he is. Look, it's fun when those insane throws work and he is leading you back from some crazy deficit. But those success are rare. It's why his career GWD count is so low. He's fun but he is fundamentally built to lose games.  If you are talking about a backup QB, you are literally already losing in the first place. That's how you see a backup QB and that's overwhelmingly what they tend to do. Rookie QB's almost always benefit from veteran QB's. Same as literally any other position in the NFL. Why do you think that you so often hear that from the playera themselves? As for Bryce NEEDING one, no he sure as poo shouldn't this late in the game. But he also shouldn't have needed this fuging long to get his fuging footwork straightened out either. Yet here we are.
    • Comfortability is the primary reason. They don't want to hurt Bryce's confidence. But I say if his confidence is that fragile that healthy competition which makes everyone better is enough for them to keep making Andy Dalton rich then Bryce was never going to be the guy anyway. Give me the QB who sees the competition amongst his peers and uses it to take it to the next level. Instead we get the guy who comes out looking like a deer in the headlights against the Texans after we've done everything possible to appease him. Definition of complacency.
