Give Richie Incognito a shot?

I wouldn't like the negative press it would bring and I don't think he'd come cheap. If he would I suppose it couldn't really hurt, but I'd prefer we don't get him. We really don't need much help on o-line we'll be getting a lot of guys back from injury.

"Nasty" makes meathead fans feel all pumped up, but that's about all it's good for.

People thinking that being an a--hole off the field means a good offensive lineman on the field are basically showing they're clueless.

Ryan Kalil, regularly called the best center in the league, zero off field incidents or anger management issues...

Jordan Gross, our best blocker for a lot of his career, zero off field incidents or anger management issues...

Travelle Wharton, also part of some of our better OL units, zero off field incidents or anger management issues...

Amini Silatolu, a player many draft analysts referred to as having a 'mean streak, zero off field incidents or anger management issues...

And some other names to consider...

Anthony Munoz, considered by many to be the best offensive lineman ever...

Jonathan Ogden, also one of the best tackles of all time...

Tony Boselli, first player ever selected by the Jaguars, and still one of the best...

Joe Thomas, arguably the best left tackle in the league right now...

Larry Allen, who some said was the best player on the Cowboys, not just the best lineman....

Jackie Slater, Bruce Matthews, Panthers Assistant OL Coach Ray Brown, all guys who played OL for 20 years, and played well...

These are some of the most dominating blockers either all time or currently in the league, and all had reputations for being good guys.  And truthfully this is a small list.  There are plenty more names that would fit in the same mold.

So...

i don't care how good he is (which ain't much), you don't want that steaming pile of poo anywhere near your lockerroom. i'd feel pretty good in saying the rest of the team wouldn't want that here, either.

and he wouldn't help much, if at all.

Yeah, pretty much.

Wow, Mr. Scot you really hate this, huh?

O-Line is kind of my thing

To the folks supporting this idea, I'd say this. Someone would be given the duty of going to Cam Newton, Steve Smith, Mike Tolbert, Travelle Wharton and others with this little piece of news:

"Hey, you know that guy you heard about last season who left the racist voice mails on a teammate's phone, the same guy who got caught on video dropping the N-word while he was going ape s--t in a bar and who's had numerous other incidents prior to that?"

"Yeah, well we decided it'd be a good idea to sign him here.  He's on the team now and he's gonna be around you in the locker room all the time.  Any questions?"

If you seriously think this is such a great idea, do the team a favor.  Volunteer for that job

    • This And with possibly needing to replace Bryce next year and a deep QB class, I do not hate the idea of moving far enough back to pick up another 1st rounder next year out of the deal. I wouldn't have said that a week ago, but I also never expected us to land 3 big FA's at our 3 biggest positions of need like we have, it totally changes things.
    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
