Better player: Charles Johnson or Greg Hardy?

I just have this awful feeling that if we give Hardy a ton of money he'll turn in an 8 sack season or something like that next year.  If we can pull it off cap wise, I'd actually prefer to franchise him.

If we could turn Kraken's season into an FT and trade along the lines what the Patriots did for Cassel........

Toss up. Greg is more dynamic and faces off against the team's best blocker at LT, but Chuck is more consistent, better against the run but less likely to make that game changing play.

I don't think that's correct. I think that CJ is the one who lines up more opposite the LT.

I stand corrected.

To answer the OP, I think CJ is the better player. He was on pace to have a much better season until the Patriots' leg sweep and until Hardy feasted on horrible offensive linemen in the last three games of the season.

Come on.... CJ, no doubt. Hardy could definitely improve but he hasn't showed up in big games and he benefits greatly from having CJ on the other end.

Hardy is a great character, good football player but I definitely believe he thrives off of our dominate DL.  If he goes to another team, which is very likely, he is going to struggle if he is the top threat on their defense.  If he doesn't get good DT play and some help from the other side.  He'll disappear.

He is great here and if he stays his legacy will grow.   If he leaves,  Kraken will be serviceable but not dominate.

Johnson on the other hand has performed well even when out D-Line sucked.

    • so the current Carolina Panthers are a team that is in a similar situation that the 2022 Carolina Panthers were in about this same time exactly 3 years ago. & after the 2022 season & missing the playoffs because of a last game of the season loss to the Tom Brady led Bucs  Carolina Panthers brass then thought hey you know what we are just a Qb away from taking that next step & becoming a playoff contender in 2023 .so of course that's what the Panthers proceeded to do when they traded up to the #1 overall pick in order todraft Bryce Young .& here is history repeating itself as it often does & the Carolina Panthers are once again in a close race at the end of the season with Tampa Bay for the NFCS title in 2025  it's took what 3 years now to get back to where we started to begin with prior to drafting Bryce Young  &so tell me once again who is really holding this team back ? ...just saying hRi

    • Well, looking at it now I would agree that he should cede some of his power and focus on being a leader of an entire NFL program and becoming a better strategist. And leave the details of implementing that to the people he has hired to work under him.  But I am just some guy that gets his info 3rd hand and works off of incomplete info, using assumptions to draw conclusions.
