Panthers approx $29 mil under projected $132 mil cap per Joe Person

If we are going to be 35 million under the cap or more once free agency hits, instead of giving a good chunk of that money to Hardy, I might still go ahead and tag'n trade him.  That gives us more picks, and we could bring in two or three good free agents with the extra money.

I don't think Gettleman is done quite yet. Restructures to CJ and Olsen along with cut such as Godrey, Dwan Edwards and Chase Blackburn could get us to 35 under the cap.

yes! and while we are at it cut the scrubs in the secondary/ or don't give another one year ticket....

-Flo is good for two claps and a rick flair but better at being out of position

-Josh anybody goes without saying

-Captain is basic at best and his best efforts match his worst efforts

I hope this doesn't really bite us in the ass down the road. Seems like an awful lot of problems are just being kicked down the road to be dealt with in the future.

Agreed. So far he's making the same moves Hurney had to do yearly to be under the cap limit... and got praised for it (yay Hurneymagic!) until poeple realized what those moves really meant.

Panthers have already committed 100M for the 2015 season on only 29 players and Cam isn't one of them.

Now i'm not saying Gettleman is bad, far from it. He bought us an entire secondary (including the nickel) for less than 4M, the guy can scout but let's not crown him yet, he's not doing magic with the cap.

Nice we got more flexibility to maneuver this year. Keep in mind tho that Marty did this year after year to a high degree and some of you guys called him a cap genius lol. Short term improves but long term gets more sucky. Ever wonder why we never had back to back winning seasons? It is like using a credit card. Fix your problems now and buy some nice upgrades for the team but when it is time to pay the bill down the line it is going to hurt.

If he could get us a franchise LT and WR then the foundation of this team would be set. Once we have the QB, LT, WR, and DL intact, the rest are plug in guys. We won't have to worry too much about money the next 2-3 years. By then a few big contracts will be expired.

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
