Falcons set to release safety Thomas DeCoud

Yes I did. DeCoud actually improved in the tackling department. Thomas missed 24 tackles in 2012. He missed only 11 this past season. Fans are using DeCoud as a scapegoat but from what I saw, the entire secondary got torched. In reality, he's better in coverage than Mitchell.

We have to keep Mitchell on the field. In my opinion he was close to being pro bowl caliber this year and was a huge difference maker. With Lester and Mikell as depth we would be set.

All I know is almost every secondary player in the NFL looks better when your front 4 get to the QB.  Carolina had 60 sacks in 2013...that'd make any secondary look better than they actually are.  That said if DeCoud comes at a Mike Mitchell price (from last year), bring him in.  He's a decent player with potential to be good on Carolina's defense.

Had a down year but everyone on that team did last year. Always thought he was one of their better defensive players. Only one year removed from being a pro bowl player and put in some solid years before that. If Gman could get him on a one year deal to reprove himself id be all about that.

I really don't understand the love for Lester. He has pretty good instincts on pass plays but he is slow for safety standards and he doesn't take the best routes to the ball. There is a reason he ended up on the bench by and lost his committee role.

We need Mitchell back but we could use another starting safety. Thomas Decoud is NOT the answer.
