Interesting Gantt perspective on Smith Situation

the more I learn about this situation the less I agree with the decision to part ways with Smith

While he may be correct, I no longer accept anything Gantt says as anything more than speculation.  He has turned into a bitter shell of his former self and rarely manages to make a comment or write an article (even one not related to the Panthers), without taking a dig at the team.

Regardless of Gantt's opinion, he is correct.

It obviously has nothing to do with skill. When Smith is the only actual player under contract at the position and is still talented, then you have to rule that out. It has nothing to do with money, as this hurts us.

This is about Gettleman making a statement. One that will hurt this team. And that has nothing to do with "business."

If I has to guess why this is happening I would say it is because Smith's personality is so strong it is smothering Newton.
