Huddle opinion....who agrees with the complete overhaul we are seeing

Gettleman had no choice.  We have to get the salary cap under control and their were going to be casualties.  It would help to get Hardy signed to a reasonable long term contract.  Until Stewart and Deangelo are gone, this team is going to be somewhat hamstrung.

The draft looks to be deep in WR's and we may double dip as we did with DT's last year.  My guess is Gettleman pulls a few rabbits out of the hat at the end of free agency.  Last year, Ginn and Mitchell did not excite anyone.  We had each player for less than $1,000,000.  Similar players will fall through the cracks this year and we will grab a couple.

Most important is that the defensive front is intact.  They were the reason this team won last year, not the offense.  Lots of defensive backs looks good when the opposing quarterback is hitting the dirt.

Everyone needs to chill out.

I agree to a certain degree, The defense is still in intact and that alone should give us 8 wins. But in order to beat NFC West in the playoffs & AFC North we are going to have to beat their defense. The interior part of the OL is in good shape,we just have to address the Tackle position. Stewart will be healthy and ready to roll in beginning of the season to give us a real Power run game and we have Olsen & Williams for 2 TE set. The 2014 draft is deep in WR / OT the two major voids we need to fill. We should be able to get 4 starters from this draft.

not attached to any of them really.. they served a purpose.

that purpose is effectively referred to as "last year"

this definitely has my attention.

Fun to watch. I think you have to do big shakeups every year with a much bigger part of the team than most people are comfortable with if you want to be competitive every year. define a small core of key guys. pay them. bring mofos around them and keep those mofos hongry

Let's remember this: HARDBALL. Lol

For the fans that loves Gman's game of hardball. We'll eventually sign some players once they stay on the market long enough.

I just hope Gman is not trying to rebuild. We were a 12-4 / No.2 seed Playoff team with guys like Cam, Kalil, Keek, Star, CJ, and Hardy. How can this happen so fast.

We let Collins visit TB before we got serious and let Nicks leave Charlotte without a contract. Mitchell, Ginn, and Munnerlyn all chose to go elsewhere despite saying how much they wanted to stay here. I think DG has disrespected more than just Steve Smith this off-season, and I think it could be a reason that seemingly nobody wants to play for a 12-4 team.

The point I was making is we weren't cheap. Given our cap position and what were willing to pay this remains true.

Mitchell and Captain chose to go elsewhere because we couldn't pay them. They will be missed but they weren't worth 5 million a year especially given our cap. I don't see how this is disrespecting them.

Disagree, he's played up to the contract. His numbers would have been even better if not for a cheap shot leg whip.

The leg whip hurt his stats, but there are many guys with similar/better stats with less help making less money. It's in his best interest to restructure too, if he doesnt want to lose help on the line and in the secondary. If we lose anymore pieces in the secondary it wont matter how fast he rushes the QB because opponents will pick us apart.

InCase anyone is wondering, I am perfectly fine with how things are going down.

yup, same here

releasing a 35 yo declining overpaid WR, fine with me

not jumping into the first couple days of free agency when everyone is getting stupid overpaid, fine with me

letting other teams shell out 50 million to Ginn, Mitchen and Munnerlyn, fine with me

the only decision I disagree with so far is keeping Shula around

I agree with you about the moves except I am not unhappy with Shula. Yet.  If we give him weapons and we finish in the bottom 10 again this year and I might agree on that as well. With a majority of your cap on defense, it is hard to have a top 10 offense.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
