I'm not a capologist either, but both had cap numbers of 7M, Godfrey's being 7.1M. 

 

One was productive, even through last season.  One has never been good at all.

I know you enjoy internet pissing matches, but as I said, we'll see what happens this season and re-visit this.

 

Neither of our arguments have been proven true.  He added pieces to what Hurney left and we went 12-4 last season.  We've started this offseason with having our team poached and have added nothing.  We have NO WRs AT ALL.  And yet, you think it's completely possible that he builds an entirely new WR coprs better than the sorry excuse we had for one last season, with the remaining FAs and guys available in the draft, AND you are expecting them to come in and contribute immediately.  Again, COMPLETELY LOGICAL.  And that's just WR.  We have holes on the OL, all across the secondary, and at returner as well, in need of guys who can play RIGHT NOW, and play BETTER than the guys that were here last season (you know, there's this thing called improving).  So, find an example of contenders filling all of those holes with 3rd tier FAs and drafted rookies expected to start and find out how logical it seems.  This is only based off of talent and football skill, we haven't even accounted for turnover and chemistry...  BUT, I know all of our fanbase knows that's just hogwash and doesn't matter at all.  LOL.

 

But, that's the last I'll say to you about this specific subject.  As I said, we'll see what happens and then re-visit it.  I'd gladly eat crow.

When have you seen a farewell presser anything like what Gross did? He went through numerous people of the team and FO and made jokes and personal remarks. Is it impossible that he met it as a slight? No, but given everything else he said there's no reason or evidence to believe it over him just giving a friendly jab.

Would everyone please quit whining about Steve Smith being let go.  It is part of football.  He is going to be 35 no longer has the speed to get separation.  If he was 6-3 and 210 there would be no question that he would be on the roster.  I wish he was still here and would have rather seen him retire but we have to go with young blood to build around Cam.  Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice were both let go from there teams.  Anyone heard of them.  Quit whining and get ready for the future.

Whole everyone is freaking out over FA WRs, how many have been signed versus still waiting by the phone. Yep, the WR class this year is that good. The rest of the NFL is letting a lot of guys sit around and wait or sign cheaply.

Apparently no one bothered to watch Mike Mitchell's presser. Basically he had nothing but good things to say about the Panthers (yeah, expected that) and thanked them for giving him the chance to prove himself and what he could do. The guy probably had no intention of staying a Panther this year. In fact, he stated that last year the Panthers asked him to sign a multi-year contract and he declined, wanting only a 1 year contract.

After playing his first four NFL seasons with the Oakland Raiders, Mitchell took a chance and signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, as he was “banking on myself” to make the most of it and hopefully turn it into something bigger.

Mitchell has only been a member of the Steelers for two days now, but said he has already gained over 10,000 followers on his Twitter account (@MikeMitchell34) and it’s likely that number will keep growing.

 

Suggest watching both videos. In the 'LIVE: Special Guest' video he talks a lot about last year with the Panthers. I believe he did some growing up while here too.

 

 

Those short contracts may not all have been Gettlemen's idea. This points out how young players and their agents are viewing 1 year contracts these days. They are taking a chance on themselves and it worked out well for the likes of Mitchell & Ginn. And it's in large part due to the team's success last year. I wish them all well. 

 

AND do NOT talk to me or moan about Munnerlyn. Last off season we let him walk & no team had any interest in him so he took our offer. He played no better than the year before really and his Viking payday is totally due to the Panthers defense's success.
