Trust the Gettleman it's really all Hurney's fault anyway

These are steps that will be taken on the road to our next Superbowl run:

WR- We will sign a proven vet with the little cap room we have left, re-sign Lafell and draft a WR that's gonna be a beast. I promise

O-line- Although Gross retired, Bell is left handed so there you go.  At guard, we have guys that are from D-2 that had season ending injuries, so they should be back at 100%. No worries. Kalil won't put any ads in the paper either.

RB- We have D-will and Tugboat. poo Stew just added trick bars to his stationary. Golden Ticket!!!!

DL- HArdy is rich as a bitch. I'm sure he'll give it his all now.

DB- who needs em? we have teh front 7. remember how the D-line shutdown MIke Wallace

Dont forget with all the concerns about the offense, we still have Shula.  Right Zod?

here's to 16-0!!!!!woot

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, because Kurb, would beat me up, but OP is right. We, as fans including myself, are very short sighted. We're probably not going to win the Super Bowl or even the NFCS this year, but Getts has repeatedly said he's building sustainable success. He might be doing a very good job of that. Let's look at what we have and what we lost.

QB: We have a top 10 QB that is still learning and improving. He'll soon be a top 5 and is going to get a massive contract. We also have a legit #2. We're good there.

WR: We don't have much, but I don't think we ever will. I'm not going to claim to agree with releasing Smitty THIS year, I don't. I'm also not a cap expert and don't know how holding on to him would impact our cap in the future. There's not much cap savings immediately, but may have saved dead money for when we resign Cam/ Luke. If that's the case, it was a good move. Getts did try to sign Nicks, but he found a better situation in Indy. He's now in another contract year and felt Indy was a better situation than being double teamed every play. Getts wasn't going to overpay to get him. Good move. I don't think WR will ever be a strength. I think we'll pick one in the top three rounds every year and rotate through young guys and cheap vets every few years. Every position can't be your strength. This one won't be ours. How many elite WR's have the teams with sustainable success over the last decade had (see Pats and Saints)?

RB: This is a mess and Getts is working with the situation we gave him. I love D-Will and Stewy, but their contracts are killing us. They'll be around as long as we have to keep them and then they'll be gone. Moving forward, the position will probably be similar to WR, but our future RB's will be picked in lower rounds than the WR's.

TE: Greg. Good to go for a while.

OL: Again, this is a mess, but not as bad as everyone thinks. The retirements could not be helped. We'll build one through the draft.

K/P: We're good.

Front 7: This will be our money on defense. Getts willingness to franchise Hardy proves that. We want a strong front four that gives Luke the freedom to foam the middle. That's what we have. We're building around our defensive QB, as we should.

Secondary: We will never have a Revis. We have a few young promising guys that look better due to our front 7. See WR for our plan here. I think we'll see a lot of our guys will leave with contracts that our font 7 earns them. See Mitchell and Cap. Losing them sucks, but it would compromising our future to over pay.

Special teams: young guys earning their way.

We have a top 10 QB and a top 3 (very possibly the best) MLB. These are the two most important positions in football and ours are elite. We're building around them. We'll have some pains this season, but it's not a bad position to be in. We'll win one or two Super Bowls in the next five years if we scout and draft well (so far Getts has) and remain calm and stick to the plan.

    • You found out what I said months ago. Its sort of simple, if Panthers/you want a edge....*Panthers need a starting edge that gets hurries/sacs/press/etc* You almost have to use the 1st on edge. Just the way it is, of course some .01% Panthers get lucky and a 4th rounder shocks the world and becomes a day one starter.    I hate double talk, I also feel the Panthers need a top backup ala Addison or Al Wallace. Sooooo I do feel the need to add one in mid rounds if possible. I mean Pat Jones is on the MAYBE cut list, Panthers need space, he had a back injury and had little impact on field. So....... It goes back to adding talent, Panthers need talent, young talent.  OT- In my finding Im able to land a "stud" in round 2 more than 50% of the current rating. Even in the 3-5 rounds, (duke lad) Im able to get a OT within the top ava. I normally draft two OTs with one must play LT at some point. So I feel the draft is weak, but one of the strong point and it helps panthers is the OT spot. A few of those OT in mid, some will be starters this year.    I posted this else where, but here is the best outcome for the Panthers given the mock draft finding- 1st- Edge 2nd- LT/OT 3rd- ILB 4th- BPA/safety/center/WR/OT/etc 5th- OT/edge/C/DL/TE 5th- """" 6th- QB/Punter/safety/NB/OL The draft feels weak at 80% of the spots and teams Im sure are on this thought too. This past draft feels much better and deeper against the pool There is no Mike green or Nic scro in the late 2nd. There is no Evans sitting there in late 5th. There is not even a Prince level edge in the 3rd by my finding. I feel Panthers for sure new to draft 2 OTs and I high believe drafting 2 edges, one must be a 1st tho. Then the remaining 3 picks one late on QB, one on ILB, and the last one BPA. Honestly the FA looks bad too, the huge problem is the amount of needed for Panthers and there's not enough cap space or draft picks to fill even half the issue this season. Its goes back to just add the best talented players possible, *so long they do not play OG, strong safety, Dbrowns spot, and Tmacs spot. Add talent everywhere else, cause its lacking.......Even CB with horn struggling and Mike Jack on a one year deal, Thor coming off injury. There room for a mid or even 2nd rounder being(ewwww) use at CB. I prefer what I posted above. Happy drafting 45!!
    • Yes.  We actually had a coach we paid millions to who burned a 6th for a long snapper strictly for the lulz.
