Hinted he will use option on Cam for fifth year...work on long term deal

Noncommittal on Godfrey

No comment on Hardys long term deal

89 was a football decision....compared it to Babe Ruth being cut

Happy with FA so far and long term prospects for team

What???  He neglected to apologize to huddlers for placing fear in our hearts?  You are going to tell me that he not once mentioned that he came to these forums for advice on how to run the team??? Who does this clown think he is??

Disagree and we don't have the money now.

Wouldn't pay him until next season anyway. It's an extension, not a new deal, so this year's amount stays the same whether we pay him today or next off-season.

Why is FOX Sports saying that it'll be tougher to keep him if we put it off til next year? That's not a rhetorical question. I'm really asking.

A. They don't know Cam

B. There's an option for us to keep him into year 5

C. Coming off ankle surgery I think it's prudent to wait

D. With Gross and Smith out, the locker room is his, what will he do with it?

I think it's very smart to not sign Cam now, evaluate beyond this season and continue to fix the cap.

He'll have more leverage.  Right now, he has a major incentive to get a long-term deal done because he knows he'll get a lot more money via a long-term deal than by playing out his contract via the team option.  If we utilize the option, then the only way we have of definitely not letting him walk would be to use the franchise tag which is a cap killer for a QB.

      Smitty is a legendary footballer player but this has really damaged his reputation as a person. You don’t cheat on a woman who has been with you through everything and gave you children and especially not with another man’s wife.       That's a big ass center! Is there any center in the NFL that weighs 320 lbs? Also, we drafted a center last season. Not sure this guy is a center even if he took reps at the senior bowl. Looks like a guard to me unless his build is better suited to a lesser weight. In a zone scheme centers need to be able to move quickly.

      The majority of NFL draft picks don't play all too many snaps lined up directly across from another NFL player, and I don't think many people really realize this. Unless you play a game against one of the 2-4 schools that are putting half their lineup into the NFL each season, most teams who have multiple draft picks, MIGHT only have 2-4 draft picks in any given season. Some skill positions get around 30 players drafted each year, other positions are in the teens to low 20's.  With at least a handful of them coming from non power conference schools too.  So the odds for any WR or CB to get too many games lined up directly against another future draft pick is pretty low. The better odds are that they get lined up against a future NFL player, i.e. a junior or senior WR getting lined up against a freshman or sophomore DB who will get drafted in a couple of years. Then if you take it one step further and look for players who actually play in the NFL and make a difference.   You're basically looking at players drafted in the first 3 rounds of the draft, so a little less than 100 players a year, spread out across all the positions and conferences (which in today's massive conferences, teams have even lower odds of player the teams with more NFL players than ever before).
