Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Spoilers)

Growl

I really wonder how they are going to tackle Evans and Downey wanting out soon. This universe that's ever expanding on screen and lead to multiple movies but when does it dry up because the originals aren't there?

best guess for Chris Evans would be why they jumped straight into the Winter Soldier stories, but going into that would potentially lead to lots of spoilers.

RDJ is another story altogether... i'm guessing Iron Man will just end up retiring and other lead Avengers characters will be brought in to replace him (Ant Man, Dr. Strange, etc.)

Or just give the job to Rhodey.

Very true. I'm always clinging on to hope marvel will buy back x men Spider-Man and F4 but idk that will happen

they could, but i don't think the character has the following they'd want in an Iron Man replacement... i love Don Cheadle, but he hasn't done much and with the average Marvel film fan loving RDJ as Iron Man and without question viewing Iron Patriot/Don Cheadle as a direct replacement, there would be a major drop off

fox and marvel studios have traded some franchises already (Daredevil, Ghost Rider)... but i don't see those larger franchises moving without big paydays going to Disney. of course, with Lucas Films/Star Wars/Indiana Jones all being scooped up in the very recent past, it wouldn't be out of the question

in my personal opinion... fox can hold on to F4 and drag them through the mud all they want. never been a huge fan and can't see them fitting into the Marvel U that Marvel Studios has created... too happy go-lucky and not real world enough.

Them getting x men though would be insane. Sooo many storylines could be played out

In the comics the F4 are very important in a lot of the huge story lines.  Mainly, Reed Richards is a vastly important character in the Marvel history being the highest scientific mind they know.   If done right, they could make them a bit more serious too.   F4 was also like the first hero group to be known in the comics, only Cap really predates them and he was a bit different being a patriot and not a group with a cool tower.

I just got back from seeing it again.. couple of cool things I missed the 1st go...

-The official Avengers logo on the side of Stark Tower when The helicarriers are locking onto targets

-*Possible future MCU spoiler* The American flag shadow casting off the WS silhouette (unique among the characters shown) during the graphic art portion of the credits

Oh, and Agents of Shield finally had a really great episode the other night if you wanna check it out. Ties into/expands on the movie.

watched the last two eps back-to-back and was surprised how much BOTH tied into Captain America, the most recent one almost to the point of spoiling parts of the movie for those who hadn't seen it yet

.

I read somewhere that when Cap throws his sheild and WS catches it, the camera holds on WS for a prolonged moment while he is holding the sheild, possibly foreshadowing WS taking over for Steve.

Add to that the fact that Chris Evans is signed on for six Marvel films, while WS actor Sebastian Stan is signed on for nine films.

I think the plan to replace Captain America could involve the Black Panther..the excuse given in the past by Marvel as to why they haven't done a Black panther movie is him and Captain America fill the same role so when Evans leaves hopefully BP would fill that role in the MCU

    • Congratulations do they know who the father is?
    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
