WR's on our roster as of today caught: 108 Passes for 1489 Yards and 16 TD's

Jerricho Cotchery, 46 rec, 602 yds, 10 TD, 13.1 Y/R

Tiquan Underwood, 24 rec, 440 yds, 4 TD, 18.3 Y/R

Jason Avant, 38 rec, 447 yds, 2 TD, 11.8 Y/R

TE's and RB's caught: 162 passes for 1674 and 10 TD's

Greg Olsen 73 rec, 816 yds, 6 TD, 11.2 Y/R

DeAngelo Williams, 36 rec, 333 yds, 1 TD, 12.8 Y/R

Ed Dickson, 25 rec, 273 yds, 1 TD, 10.9 Y/R

Mike Tolbert, 32 rec, 184 yds, 2 TD, 6.8 Y/R

Jonathan Stewart, 7 rec, 44 yds, 0 TD, 6.3 Y/R

Richie Brockel, 1 rec, 12 yds, 0 TD 12.0 Y/R

Kenjon Barner, 2 rec, 7 yds, 0 TD, 3.5 Y/R

Mike McNeill 1 rec, 5 yds, 0 TD, 5.0 Y/R

That totals: 3163 Yards

Last season Newton had : 3379 Yards

Factoring in the fact none of the WR's on our roster played for Ham Cam Newton last year you can probably bump that number up by 4-500 yards. In reality we are another WR like Avant or Underwood and a 1st/2nd Round WR in the draft from having a better receiving core than last year.

In before the same people bitch about the same thing they bitched about in the threads about Avant this morning.

I don't see why people are upset.

Avant isn't a big time WR but he is one of the better slot WR's in the NFL playing. He played behind DeSean Jackson for years and I could see Newton milking a slot WR like Avant for all their worth.

I'm down for the double-dip in the 1st and 3rd then just rolling with Rookie, Cotchery, Rookie, Avant, Underwood, King/McNutt/Pilares/Bersin/Webb

Everyone keeps putting Underwood low on their list. I don't know if I'm expecting more than I should from him or what. I've wanted him for about 6 months now. I feel like he could have a break out season here.

I just think if we draft two wide receivers it will be hard for him to see the field other than backing up Avant as the slot receiver.

Hard to take a guy seriously with hair like that.

    • Disclaimer:  In June, I am usually optimistic.  In October, a policeman with a bullhorn is telling me that I have a lot of life ahead of me and to think about my loved ones as I gaze down upon him from my rooftop.   Having said that, I think our offense (down the stretch) was good enough to play KC and Philly tough.  So how many games would this offense have won if they played the entire season like they did in November-January and if they had a better defense?   If you could stretch the last nine games over an entire season and put a solid defense on the other side, I see 5 wins becoming 7 or 8.  Down the stretch, the Panther D surrendered 30 points or more in 5 of the final 7 games and managed to win 2 of those 5.  If they can win 40% of games in which their defense surrenders 30 points or more, then the math indicates, had that been the case all season, the Panthers should have won 6 or 7 games with their defense surrendering 30+ points.   This season, we are much better at WR (TMac, Renfrow, Horn, and I expect XL to be a lot better).  Bryce is confident and now a leader.    The Achilles' heel of the 2024 defense, the DL, seems to be very solid.  We got back Horn and Jackson on the corners, Smith-Wade is improving better than expected, we signed a stud Safety.  Derrick Brown returns.  While the D is not there yet, it is going to be better.   So if we ended the second half of 2024 playing at a level that should have produced 6-7 wins, better WRs and a better defense could result in 9 wins or more.
