Wide Receiver Roundup

Oh stop it. Did he really PLAY a year with Brady? I'm starting to think all you like to do is complain.

Uh yea he did, see you guys like to twist things to fit your point. I'm a realist and the reality is he was on the Patriots roster and caught passes from Tom Brady.

Bryant would get by guys and and get fade passes thrown to him regularly...and Bryant would mostly "Drew Carter "everything....flash a huge play and drop a wide open TD.

I just do not trust the guy but that size and speed combo is hard to turn away from.

Byrant is the type of development I like to get in the 3rd after getting a more pro ready Wr in the 1st or 2nd.

I would like to add-

Cotchery had  3 drops - and was rated by PFF as the # 2 blocking wideout in the NFL last season

Avant - no drops last year - Philly fans called him a " clutch" player - and known a a stout run blocker

How many drives did we have that fizzled out after hands of stone Lafell, or Ginn and even Smitty at times dropped what should have been a completed pass by Newton?  I would rather have guys who are more reliable at making a catch than guys who can sometimes catch and get some YAC.  The fact that both these guys will probably upgrade our run game is icing on the cke.

Ok Mr Realist....looking at it objectively which scenario makes the most sense?

1) a 7th round pick took time to develop into a decent prospect in a NFL position that typically takes players time to adjust to the new level and has continued to grow, develop, and improve every year.

2) in his second year Underwood was brought in primarily as a kick returner and only caught three passes from Brady so he sucks.

It's not twisting things around... It's freaking coming sense. And yes, I am guilt of possessing it.

See you twists so much you don't even realize it anymore. Find a post of mine where I say Tiquan Underwood sucks. Find a post of mine where I say Tiquan Underwood is a bad signing. Zod said he never played with a legitimate QB when he in fact practiced and played with Tom Brady, which made the statement inaccurate. A more accurate statement should have ended with "outside a brief stint with Tom Brady". Because regardless of how many balls he caught the fact remains that he played with Tom Brady.

I'm really looking forward to seeing our WRs creating opportunities for Cam when he extends plays. Cotchery and Avant strike me as players who would be adept at that, especially Cotchery with all his time playing with Roethlisberger, who lives on extending plays past route completions. From what I've seen the past couple years, we've been terrible at that aspect of the game.

He was thrown to 13 times by Tom Brady. That changes everything!! Lol

Sent from the Carolina Huddle App

Did he or Did he not play with Tom Brady? How many times he was thrown to is irrelevant. We don't know if he will even make the team here, yet you're already saying he will get to play with a legitimate qb for the first time in his career.

Wow....that's all I've got for that response.

Sorry Miley canceled last night.

Yeah I don't agree. Unless Lewan or Martin drop none of the OT after that are solid 1st round picks. There will be at least 6 Wr rated higher as BPA after the 4 top Ot are gone.

Oh believe us, we know you do not want any kind of offensive linemen in the first round.  We got it, we know your true feelings now on this subject.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
