He sat there and hit a 350+ pounder straight up running full speed at him but he's soft. aight.

Which means he is an idiot which is worse than being soft...

Man said yea imma go high vs him.....didn't read the scouting report brotha

Soft players don't survive on the Panthers. We haven't had a soft starter on defense since at least before Rivera came here. Decoud will man up and shed the Falcons softness, or he'll ride the bench or get cut. Either way, great. Welcome to the NFC South champions.

I agree a good 70% of our defense was pretty soft last year but Moore and Worrilow aren't good examples. McClain, Peters, DeCoud, Spoon, and even Osi at some points are better candidates.

Check out a few of Luke's tackles and see how far back he had to go cover in that game. There was also another play that would have gone for a TD had it not been for TD running Graham down. Mitchell was nowhere near the play! Our LB do put in work.

Eh, I f'ing hate saying this, but the falcons fan is right. This is a mediocre signing at best. Decoud in NO way improves this defense over last year, at absolute best it's a step to the side. I'm not even sure the guy will see the damn field that often, for reasons mentioned in this thread. My homer shades are usually pretty thick, but even I can see through them to know we shouldn't get excited over this signing.

Nice display of ignorance. DeCoud managed to have good season behind our bad front 7 in 2011/2012. But with virtually the same pieces up front last year he was god-awful. He fell off. Simple as that.

Do you not have a traffic jam you need to be in?

Not a fan of Decoud but no Falcon is welcome to come in and act like they are the #$@^ on this board. When you attack a poster like that it shows the low class that resides in Falcon fandom. I may have considered taking up for your opinion on the player  but you pretty much suck  so I won't. Your undeserved tirade pretty much makes you crap on this board. Now go away before I taunt you a second time. Now I remember why I hate the Falcons.

Nothing quite like an internet fist fight

Watching some of those ATL games it looked like alot of the players tanked the season and pulled out of tackles and didn't go all in, on both sides of the ball.

Decoud is not known for his tackling I agree, and something out coaches will work on as his coverage skills too, the fact is a player can be improved on if he works on his flaws, they don't go away but thy can be lessened, decoud will be an ok player in our secondary, the front seven made mostly average secondary players look so good last year.

Mike Mitchell aswel as he played last year led the leagues safeties in missed tackles (18) some that went for tds, so Decoud isn't that much of a step down IMO, Mitchell was just an attitude and hard hitter when he got his tackles made.

Harper and Decoud won't be on the field for every snap and the secondary will be adressed via the draft both safety and corner position, people need to chill out, and as for taking any notice of what saints or falcons fans say, lol they should sort there own houses out before commenting on ours.

These wholesale changes bring lots of excitement and anticipation.  Nothing sells tickets better than that.

Gettleman is winning football

These are decent players too that are incentivised to earn a spot but know their role from the jump.

Mercenary Football!

Let's see:

-Signed Strief to long term contract, the best RT on market and best graded RT of 2012

-Signed Byrd, the best safety available and best open market free agent to long term contract

-Singed Champ Bailey for a contract with lower MAX value a year than what Munnerlyn got

-Signed the best remaining Safety available, R Bush and kept him away from Falcons, a guy that's a HUGE improvement over Decoud

-will soon sign best free agent since Brees in next month or two, Jimmy Graham

So not exactly one overprice FA

Going down to the quality of guys y'all signed, we can brag about the signing of Pierre Thomas and Pary Haralson and huge saving of Bunkley

What's funny is resigning Hardy > your entire goon squad you call FAs

Byrd is nice no doubt but Hardy is better still

Just saw that Panthers signed DeCoud for 2 years $3.75m with a 500k bonus! What a steal compared to keeping Godfrey, Gman does some serious work. Hopefully this means we will be able to pay Cam and Hardy and tie them down to long term deals.

Godfrey is not gone yet.

Do not be surprised if he is restructured and moved to the nickel back position.

It's a shame we broke the bank to sign these horrible safeties...

Wait...we didn't break the bank?

Face it falcon and saints fans...gettleman is making good moves considering the budget.
