Cats vs Hawks 4/14

Omega Atrocity

The plan is to hope we have enough cash to entice someone to come to Charlotte.

If we don't the goal is to get back in the playoffs as the sixth or seventh seed and then hope Detroit's pick turns into a top five pick.

Yeah, we can hopefully add a max free agent to stabilize us as a playoff team going forward. And if that doesn't work, we have the detroit pick that might be something. Things look pretty ok.

You think Detroit is really that bad? Seems like a team with Smith and Monroe plus a decent lottery pick will be able to turn it around....if they were really that bad to begin with.

Unless Smith takes, a backseat, they will struggle.

If he decides to become a roll-player then they will be solid.

The real rift lies between Drummond and Monroe, those two just can't play together.

I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit chose not to match a big offer for Monroe in the offseason.

Being that much of an offensive liability totally changes the way a team can game plan their D for the Bobcats. We can't have a SF who hasn't attempted a 3 since January and is shooting 11% from that range.

Only reay two options with Jefferson in the lineup. Play MKG or go after Deng, James or a similar elite level defender. Not many Sf elite defenders In the NBA that would even be a FA the next two years.

Or play a horrible defensive lineup that can't stop the p&r and gives up 112-114 a game.

Either that or scrap Zeller being a starter the next two seasons and getting a defensive stopper at PF that can move like a Sf... Not anyone but James in this category either.

I'll keep saying this, but MKG literally holds the defense together and has twice has much responsibility of any other player defensively.

If you replace him, you need a sf that can defend at that level if the system and Jeffersoncontinue to be in place and there just isn't many options.

Honestly both of you guys are right. But MKG has to develop some sort of offensive game so he can play 30 minutes a game. Right now he isn't getting the minutes because he is such a liability on offense. But you are right that he is the defensive catalyst for this team and we are 10x better defensively when he is on the court.

I'm just saying if you replace him, it's got to be a player that can fill his role defensively so the defense isn't horrendous.

It can't be a offensive strong, defensively limited player like Hayward. Who isn't a very good perimeter defender. That's all I'm getting at, you just can't replace him with a shooter.

Which is why we need a pure shooting 2 skiing side him. Hendo exposes MKG as much as MKG exposes himself.

Hairston/MKG would be lethal on both ends.

    • Dabo said the timeline is about  3-5 years.  IMO, he has been pretty spot on about college football overall…..and IMO I think he was speaking not off a gut but just the general inside consensus.  the end game is for the top of college football to essentially have their own league/division and that doesn’t just mean Clemson leaves the ACC….it means UGA, Michigan, etc all leave their conference too.
    • So you are a Carolina fan, and the administration knows this, if Carolina goes to the SEC they will be below Vandy and you and I both know I’m not kidding, they have not been the greatest and basketball lately either.  It would be an absolute disaster for Carolina to go to the SEC.  Look at SC, they may finally have something this year but they left the ACC in what?  The 80’s?  What have they done in the SEC in 40 years?  That will be any ACC school that goes to the SEC or the Big 10 and they know it.  Especially Carolina, they have nothing to offer the SEC, we already know that Clemson and FSU has been denied by the board, they couldn’t go if they wanted to…where would they go?
    • This wasn't unknown to the public. It was covered previous to the trade and going back to June in the media. So the Packers would know.  It probably just isnt considered significant.   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46097336/cowboys-appear-open-micah-parsons-trade-offers
