Kony Ealy or Dee Ford

Ok college player draft guru's, I am having a feeling we might be a surprised and pick up a DE in the first. Now I keep hearing everyone talk about Ealy and not Dee Ford. I know little on either, please educate me on these two players and why they would be good fits with us. Thanks!!

Ealy.  Ford is too small.  He's probably a 3-4 OLB.

What Linville said.

Don't get me wrong, if you notice my user name, you'd guess I *love* me some Dee Ford.  And I do.

But Dee Ford is not a match for DE in a 4-3 defense.  Unless he puts on about 20 pounds.  But then he'd probably lose the traits that make him so dangerous, his speed and quickness.

He showed at the Senior Bowl and in private workouts that he has the agility to "drop back" as a LB, so I'm pretty sure he's gonna make some 3-4 team happy.

So the answer to your question, though it pains me to say it, is Kony Ealy.

Ealy has the potential to be a great player to borderline Elite! Best Ford may ever do is CJ level! I don't know this for sure, but it's my opinion.

That's a lot of praise for both players then because CJ is a top 5 all around De and has top 5-10 sack numbers since becoming a starter.

Yea, we aren't gonna go DE in the first.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we did. We've already hosted both Ealy and Crichton, who should both be top 50 DE picks, and we're looking at a horrible DE contract situation in the next season. I'm not saying it's a lock, but I don't think it's out of the question by any means.

I agree bc of the money tied in CJ and Hardy. I think we might look for our cheaper replacement to CJ and extend the younger hardy.

I don't know how it will work, honestly, but I know that if we have CJ on our roster next year he's going have a cap hit of 17m, if we cut him it will only be 6m, so that's 11m.

If we don't extend Hardy, then we free up the 13m from this season.

Either way, we're saving a ton of money in the long run, and keeping our strength strong, which is something that I know Gettleman and Rivera are both very focused on.

    • He had a turnover on all three goals he was on the ice for. Plus he had that god awful delay of game penalty. Like legit his GS actually shows he was the cause of the loss and he was only on the ice for 12 minutes. You remove him from that game and the Canes win or at worst go to OT.  Let's put this in perspective, in 12 minutes he directly led to 3 goals against. In the 48 minutes without him on the ice it was an even-steven 2-2 game and that's disregarding that god awful delay of game penalty that led to goal number 4 of the 5 given up.      I don't see how anyone could say that he didn't directly lead to the loss.
    • reality is the piling on of Frank Reich is just the standard huddle angle we take of putting all blame on someone after the fact.   as I was an OG Frank hater before it was cool to be......now the swing goes too far the other way and people will claim me is as a Frank defender.  Frank Reich was the definition of a .500 middle of the road NFL coach.  He technically was a winning coach and above .500 coming here but he is and was NFL average.  we were the biggest joke in a decade.....because they paired Frank Reich (a dude who was going to do what he does in the NFL) with a dude who couldn't do NFL basics and Frank was forced to play him.  That's not Frank being a loser.  That a bad org around Frank.
    • Toronto is less physical than us, and they took them to 7  I really wish they would have won, because we match up better with them, but we have to deal with what we got  What worries me is Svech trying to take out Bob, that is desperation, that's what you do when you feel like there is no legit options left, it's what I feared, Bob is still in our core groups head, and they are over thinking, over passing Hopefully that changes tonight
