  1. Past hour
  2. I would counter that although he is certainly not Hurts/Jackson, Purdy is pretty mobile. Surprisingly so, at times.
  3. 100%. I may not think a lot of him as a player but I am happy for him as a person for getting that bag. Especially as Mr. Irrelevant. Great story, even if he doesn't get to the ultimate NFL heights.
  4. Just a winner? He went 6-9 last year. Just because a guy got carried to the SB by elite surrounding talent doesn't mean much. How did Nick Files pan out after catching lightning on a bottle?
  5. Hurts is an elite threat with his legs though. He's gonna stress an opposing DC a lot more than Brock Purdy.
  6. Today
  7. Um, no, just no. Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, Texans, Eagles, Commanders are 8 teams that it's not even a debate, they aren't trading their QB for Purdy. Patriots, Broncos, Titans, Giants, Bears, Vikings, Falcons are 7 more teams with QBs drafted in the last 2 years that also would rather stick with them than trade for Purdy as they all have more upside than he does. Lions, Packers, Cowboys, Bucs are 4 more that would likely keep their QB's as well, age aside for Goff, Dak, and Baker. Panthers and Colts are two teams in the same situation, QB's who have both struggled and shown flashes to where the teams probably stick with them because they drafted them, but in a re-draft of all QB's, they probably take Purdy over the guy they currently have. Jags, Cardinals, Dolphins, are 3 more with QB's who probably have a higher upside than Purdy but come with their own question marks, so debatable if they'd take Purdy over who they already have. That leaves Jets, Raiders, Steelers, Browns, Saints, Seahawks, and Rams. Rams would take him over Stafford for the future of course, but not for 2025, and I'd think the Seahawks would take him over Darnold, but honestly not sure if they would take him over Milroe at this moment as they really like his potential and have him for 4 years really cheap. That leaves 5 teams that I see who would absolutely take him over their current situation right now, and a handful of others who MIGHT take him over their current guy, a far cry from your 20.
  8. Agreed. Also as soon as they received the top pick in the next draft it was over. Bears won that trade. Gave up a top overall pick got one the next year plus pick 9, a couple 2nds, and DJ Moore a proven young WR. Had their 2024 pick from us be in the late teens or later it would be more debatable IMO.
  9. Option A: Pay your starting QB starting QB money. Option B: Look for a starting QB for 4-10 years (or longer) while wasting the talent at every other position. How many of the top 20 QB's do you think are worth what they are being paid? When you factor in the last year of his present deal his contract is really an average of 45 million per year which in today's QB market is a very, very good deal. I wish we'd had found a Brock Purdy to pay 50+ million a year right after we parted ways with Cam. Ya'll go ahead and live in fairy tale land where good to great (much less elite) QB's are available to pay. Just the fact that they had the chance to pay Brock after the disaster of trading up for Lance is a testament that when you find a quarter back you can win with, complete in the playoffs and superbowls with, you pay him.
  10. They will still be a playoff team but they aren't contenders anymore IMO. They won't be able to spend like they have when they went to a SB and proved he couldn't carry a win at that level with a really good team around him. Now he is going to have to do it with less to spend around him. They just locked in to being a playoff bound team that's going to be a known speed bump for whoever will represent the NFC in the SB.
  11. Hmm. I think he'll live up to it. Last year, about half of his team was on IR it seems, at one time or another. Year before, Super Bowl appearance. Year before that, playoff run after being third on the depth chart and being pressed into service. Is he one of the greatest in the game right now? Nope. No chance of that. Is he in the top 10 going into next season? Pretty good chance of that. Would 20 or more teams in this league love to have the guy as their starting QB. Most likely so. He's a good QB who can implement his coach's game plan to a T and has both the confidence of and confidence in his teammates. That'll take you a long way in this league if you've got the right cast around you, and he does.
  12. It’s a great story for the last player drafted but that contract is crazy
  13. Well, since 2015, the last time our QB played in a SB, there have only been 12 QBs in a SB including ours. Purdy is one of those 12 and of those 12 only about half would be considered better than good but they all got there which is more than most good QBs and even some great ones. Some people are just winners even if they aren't great. If SF didn't pat him he would have walked and then they are back to where they were before Purdy. Great team desperately throwing qbs on the field hoping one stuck. They got lucky once. Would they get lucky again? He's one of the highest paid this year. But by the time that contract ends he won't be. Every SB QB becomes one of the highest paid the year they sign it. Even some who don't go to SBs like Lamar. I don't see how it's a bad move.
  14. Wanting that type of play and being okay with paying $55 million a season for it are two entirely different things. If Bryce were to become the same player Purdy has been, then he would surpass my expectations of him and I'd be okay with him as our QB of the future (and again, I've long been one of the bigger anti Bryce people here who doesn't think he is capable of being our long term solution). But in no world would I be okay with paying him THAT kind of money, paying an average starter elite money is just a terrible decision.
  15. I don't think they can overcome that mistake. Hell Lance was a hiccup compared to this. He isn't going to be able to carry that price tag and now he is going to have to do just that. Lol. The NFL is so dumb sometimes.
  16. So, one could say that T-Mac is quicker than someone of his size should be and while he might not be quite as fast as Evans in the 40, he's more athletic than Evans. If only someone, anyone, could have seen that in his tape and mentioned that on here, hmmmmmmm In all seriousness, hearing he tested in the 89th percentile in that drill at his size is crazy impressive. Just tried to look up the times of the top WRs in the league right now, most don't show at time for that, but I did see Chase ran his in 7 seconds flat. I honestly don't know how true this is, but I do remember seeing one breakdown of his tape and the person said he has quiet and efficient feet. That he's really good at using the minimal steps possible to make his cuts and because of that, it actually makes him look slower to the human eye because you don't see all the quick chop steps that the guys like Tyreek would use in their running. I'm still in a state of disbelief that he's a Panther and it might not fully hit me until week 1 and I see him out there making plays for us, still feels like Goodell is going to just be like, "YOU GOT PUNKED!!! hahaha, he's a Cowboy now, suck it"
  17. I'm guessing this is a knock on Salaun but I thought they took the right route since it was a weak draft, he has huge upside, and they don't want to win right now.
  18. Jalen Hurts has entered the chat. Eagles get away with it by having a cheap defense. Remains to be seen if the 49ers can pull it off
  19. I don't think people here want to be in QB purgatory. We have been pining for a superstar like Cam again.
  20. I mean....his 2025 cap figure was like $5 mil. This smacks of bad reporting, TBQH.
  21. Traditionally Chicago is where QBs go to die. The truth is the qbs won't decide which team is better. It will be decided by who is the better coach - Canales versus Johnson. Both good offensive minds.
  22. Dulles Airport, of all people, tried to come at the king...
  23. Imo, Purdy is better than Jones, not as good as Hurts. My point was that Jalen Hurts was thought of as a qb who would doom Philly to mediocrity. I remember us losing a game to him during the Rhule term and some of the post were "we lost to a team qb'd by Jalen ffing Hurts" I think Purdy is a adequate qb. He has proven that with the right team around him, he can win. It might be hard to win Superbowls, but then only one team a year wins those anyway. The forty niners have to do what they can to put their team in the playoff discussion and then let the chips fall. Constantly reaching for the next great qb is almost always a losing proposition.
  24. Promising in that they obviously think he's gonna be a star.
  25. As long as people continually hype up the QB position, they will continue to get all the money.
  26. Haha people here act like we haven’t wished for this type of QB play since 2018. We would have cut off our arms for a Purdy. Such a weird fanbase that never knows what it wants. I remember when many complained when Cam got his second contract lol
