Look, guys....this horse has been beaten enough. CJ struggling doesn't mean Bryce is good or even better. Yes it can raise questions about the grass always being greener but regardless of which of those horses your bandwagon is hitched to, you need big improvements in play. Period. The one thing you can say for CJ is that at least he had a full season of showing elite play. We are still waiting on that for Bryce between benching, injuries, etc.

I think many were concerned because Morgan worked with Fitterer, and was in the room when many poor decisions were made in the past, including passing on the Brian Burns haul from the Rams, trading up for Bryce Young, and then turning around and not re-signing Burns and trading him for only a 2nd round pick. From 2022-2024 the team jettisoned way more talent than it brought back in, most of it being Fitterer's fault, but Morgan had to shoulder some of that blame too. He seems to be getting better and that makes me hopeful, but time will tell.

I am not getting too far ahead of myself on expectations. I predicted 4-7 wins and I feel pretty good about that considering the rest of the remaining schedule. The biggest remaining thing to figure out is Bryce. We have to get that situation determined over the remainder of his starts. I am 90-10 against picking up that 5th year but that scenario should immediately involve a trade when that happens. I suspect it will not happen that way at all. Ekwonu looks great, so that fantastic. Brown and Horn are staying healthy and living up to those massive contracts. That's amazing. And the 2025 guys are looking filled with promise. Sadly the 2024 class just keeps looking worse. So my remaining focus is on the development of TMac, Jimmy Horn, Coker, XL, Scourton, Umanmielen, Evans, etc. If we can get a few wins from that group this roster feels demonstrably better. Wharton has played well for the FA pickups too.

I am gonna say that I don't know that all of the top 15 QB's would this offense cooking. Not only due to fit but I also have yet to be super impressed with DC the playcaller. For all the talk of DC being hamstrung by Bryce, I am not convinced he is a terribly adept OC. Not saying the bulk of our offensive struggles are not primarily Bryce but I wouldn't be so sure an upgrade at QB would instantly turn us into an elite offense. I still question DC. Also, I will point out that most top 15 QB's would not be super pleased to be looking at the prospect of our WR Corps and TE group.

Sounds like our social media team needs to return the favor by showcasing whoever it was (Ransom?) on our team absolutely obliterating Fields helmet-to-helmet because of his late slide

That includes YAC. IAY is a metric that shows air travel of all attempted passes, so it is a far more accurate representation of pass depth.

I didn't know DB was such a potty mouth........I love it

Sorry, my memory may be getting wonky with age. I thought he had been. Or had it been a "mutual agreement to resign/retire?"

They are 0-7? What more than a sack can they talk about? It's not a serious injury and there was zip from that clip that was disrespectful, intended or not.

Literally, nobody on this board hates BY the person. The majority of fans can now see that he is not cut out to be a high level starting QB in the NFL. It is what it is. If it was going to be different it would have already happened. He is almost half way through his third season. He has 2 1,000 yard backs, 2 first round receivers and one of the most expensive o lines in the league… and for what? What has he shown for it. Where has his game taken the next big step? Any of the top 15 passers in the league would have this offense cooking. Look at the resources that have been allocated. It’s a minor miracle that the defense has shown improvement with the inequity they have been given. Dan is working personnel miracles. It can’t keep going on this way. Contenders are built off of the premise that a high end QB can elevate JAG talent to be legit playmakers, thus freeing up draft capital to continually invest in the lines and stack the defense. Ravens. Steelers. Patriots. Seahawks. Chiefs. We’re now starting to see it in Denver and the Chargers. Baltimore is in a down year, but look at their track record and how they’ve done it. Strong defenses stacked with early round talent builds consistent winning. It’s why you don’t give big contracts to RBs to cover up for a QB that can’t get it done. Think about it. CMC. Chuba. Big money. Why is that? It’s because they largely have been THE offensive production. A franchise QB is supposed to make an RB look good, not the other way around. This offense is built completely backwards. BY will NEVER be THAT DUDE. Period. His limitations are mostly physical. He’s now 2 1/2 years in his NFL career and he still looks every bit as frail as he did on draft day. He could have EASILY added 15 more pounds of solid muscle by now… but hasn’t. Why not? It sure would help with the weak ass jersey grab sack fumbles he still struggles with. It’d definitely help with arm strength. Where’s the DAWG? Where has HE upped HIS game? He is a backup QB that a contender will need when their starting guy goes down. It would be prudent by our front office over the next several weeks to see this scenario unfold and dump him. There is 0 upside to continue to ride with him going forward.

Speaking of revisiting trades: Brian Burns
ImfromClayton replied to Peon Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've seen much discussion on this topic, but its really hard to evaluate it piece for piece due to the cap implications it had. For example: I'm not sure we sign hunt or lewis with burns contract. Those picks obviously turned into XL and Mitchell Evans. So our side of the trade is still very much TBD. That said, as good as Burns has been this year, and he's been really good, He's still a pash rush only DE. He's also getting a lot of 1 on 1 there, as they have Thibidoux (I'm sure that's spelled wrong) and Abdul Carter, as well as Dexter Lawrence in the middle. If you don't double Dexter, your play is not going to work. You can only have him on the field on first and second down if you have a dexter lawrence, or a derrick brown. If you watch the giants, one of their biggest flaws is that teams attack their defense the same way they attacked ours when he was here: Run off tackle straight at Brian Burns. I'm not sure you can win a lot of games with a player like that absorbing so much of the cap. So sure, he's on pace for a ridiculous season, but the giants are not good, and I really don't think he'd be able to put up the same production here. Throw in the way this trade opened up our offense, and I think it's a wash for us at worst. - Today

Whether the play was dirty doesn’t really matter. Still poor form and classless to hype a play that injured another player.
-
Listen, even if you don’t think it’s a dirty play the fact that Bryce got hurt on it it’s still classless to showcase on your social media

300+ lb man, while running and bending, hyper extends his own leg to step on another man's leg (who wasn't exactly lighting it up) to get him out of the game. Call in the Mythbusters (RIP) and Sports Science guy (RIP)

Who gives a fug. They still 0-7 at the end of the day.
