I don't think it has anything to do with Chinn. I mean, Chinn was a LB/safety tweener where Walker is am EDGE/LB tweener. Really different players and how we used Chinn was really kinda forced on us by our roster. He wasn't good in a deep safety role but he was the best option we had. Now I would argue that we should've still used Chinn where he was most effective but that's just me. I don't see how you're making a D better by misusing one of your better talents. It does seem like the Raiders are finally starting to use him how he should be used if you're going to play him at safety.

No issue with passing on Walker/how our draft went, but what does Everos use of Chinn have to do with projecting how he might have used Walker? Beyond being called a “tweeter” by some, totally different players and roles on the field.

It makes sense. I mean, the edge guys we drafted do have prototypical 3-4 OLB measurables and by all accounts post-draft T-Mac was by far and away everyone WR1 so it's not hard to believe that the Panthers just saw better value going that way. I think it's likely that Walker was planning B if T-Mac was gone and in that case we were going to definitely strongly consider offers to trade down.
