  1. Past hour
  2. No one knows what he will be yet. We won't until he takes the field. Many times. Same with all the rest, from Tet on down to Moose 3. It's kind of exciting, the anticipation and all. But it has been disappointing too many times recently for me to get too over the moon about any of it.
  3. Seeing him in the limited time that I have. I am just not convinced he is going to develop the way we want him to. To be fair, I didn't view him as a high caliber prospect in the first place. I am fine being wrong about it, all the better for us. I do think the selection of Tmac at 8 says quite a bit about how they view him too.
  4. Yeah, I was just not a fan of the value there. I think he will be a better version of YGM.
  5. No. He'd been on the Aho line, and that's where he was in the projected lineup for game 3. I believe Rod shuffled Jarvy, Carrier, and Blake in-game Saturday, and he's sticking with that change, but could be wrong.
  6. This thinking is correct, cover 3 is Evero's preferred coverage, zone blitz underneath. Sliding coverage and moving the blitz and attack point around a lot. You'll see a lot of cover 3 with the box stacked and every down a different player will come even if it's still only a 4 player rush. But Evero is more known for mixing his coverages up but showing cover 3 pre snap while rolling to cover 2 or cover 4 allowing a safety to blitz off the edge while rolling the OLB on the opposite side into the flat or under edge zone.
  7. No issues drafting a RB in the 4th that'll be slated as your 3rd down specialist, or special team returner. I just thought that Billy Bowman and/or Malachi Moore would have helped the team more. But who knows, Etienne could be our Bucky.
  8. But hey we screwed the cowboys didnt we? If the option in the 2nd round between a rb or a lineman, there really shouldnt be any debate. And you are 100% right about the timeline, we werent winning poo last year so playing him never made sense
  9. Right! And I'd go a step further and say they're all related. A hammy could lead to an achilles or a calf. A foot could lead to an ankle or even a knee, and vice versa. Once your lower body starts having problems, it could all go bad. And if he has cartilage damage, then osteoarthritis could be a real concern for someone so young. Bad juju.
  10. I saw the vision in him being RB1 in that class by a good margin. I know people wanted Frazier but we STILL haven't drafted a center so that must have not been high on our list... Obviously Brooks getting injured again right away shows it was a bad pick. It was a risk we probably shouldn't have took considering all of the needs we had at the time. Hindsight is 20/20, but give credit where credit is due, many people on here hated the pick for this very reason. IMO when his return kept getting pushed back and we clearly weren't making the playoffs we should have just put him on IR.
  11. Sorry I missed this on Saturday, but here is tonight's projected lineup from the official Hurricanes website. Looks like Rod is sticking with the lines he had for game 3: Tonight's Projected Lineup... Forwards Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis Hall - Roslovic - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Robinson - Kotkaniemi - Blake Defense Slavin - Burns Orlov - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Goaltenders Andersen [Backup: Kochetkov] - Injuries Jesper Fast (Neck | Out For 2024-25 Season) Mark Jankowski (Undisclosed Injury | Day-To-Day) Scratches Juha Jaaska Tyson Jost Alexander Nikishin Ty Smith Riley Stillman - PP1: Aho, Blake, Jarvis, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere PP2: Hall, Kotkaniemi, Roslovic and Stankoven with Burns
  12. Tony Pauline says he's fine. Take that as you will.
  13. I was really hoping we would replace Jewell as he was awful at everything but rushing the passer. Hopefully Wallace shows strides year 2.
  14. I am JUICED to see these young guys get on the field and figure things out over the course of the season. I know that things are being slow-played and that 2026 - 2027 is the "show up or shut up" season for this iteration of the team, but it's difficult for me not to be excited about how they might trend.
  15. Today
  16. I think we got great value on Scourton we owe TAMU a thank you for misusing him and hurting his draft value. He looked like a 1st rounder for sure and potentially a high 1st rounder playing lighter at Purdue.
  17. The draft is so difficult, you can't really afford to make poorly calculated misses. Every GM is going to draft busts, because the bust rate in the NFL is high. I'd rather reach on a risky player at a more valuable position than RB. Hitting on a 2nd round RB probably isn't going to make a dent in the win column for a team with so many holes at more important positions.
  18. Is there any word on his injury status? google doesnt have anything current on him
  19. And its two fold from there, we knew we were going to stink next year, we knew he wasnt going to play right away and we knew the 2025 rb class was absolutely fuging loaded. So none of it made a lick of sense
  20. Here for the lively debate but don’t devolve into “you don’t know the game” stuff. ..with that PSA over, I lean more to the it was a mistake camp myself. It wasn’t a good move. Many people reference Frazier but it is was a few guys. I thought Sainristil would have been perfect for us. Although I will say, I don’t mind taking RBs high depending on the talent. It was him being injured and his talent relative to the other RBs in his tier that makes me less than thrilled about it.
  21. If you're insinuating Bryce Young is the only player people here have been critical of we don't even need to discuss any further because folks who have actually seen the threads knows that's factually incorrect. That's the issue and where the disconnect begins. You perceive an honest assessment and basic straightforward acknowledgment that while we can like the player on a personal level ultimately the pick was a mistake given what we know now and the other prospects that were available. None of that is the personal slight you perceive it to be. Honest discussion is not doom and gloom. If someone wants to reject the reality that is front of them in favor of another that is more convenient for their POV that is certainly their prerogative. What I'm trying to tell you is you are never going to find the dialogue you seek as long as this is your basis for the framework of discussion about our team. I'm not asking you to leave. I do believe you bring legitimate value here. I'm simply offering you an alternative if you insist on rolling out this same approach when the season rolls out. Because although optimism is high right now sooner or later we might hit a bump in the road. And conversations will likely get the opposite of glowing positivity. But that's alright. That's the rollercoaster of sports fandom. We'll survive.
  22. Wallace has been getting some serious mentoring from TD and a bit from Kuechly as well. Both have been sitting down with him looking at tape.
  23. Its completely and utterly bootlicking at this point. If you cannot acknowledge that using 3 picks on a rb with a torn acl in the 2nd round isnt a bad pick then [mod edit: we are no where seeing eye to eye]. And its insanely laughable you are trying to strawman this argument using other players. And what fuging facts are you bringing that is justifing morgan using 3 goddamn picks on him? I cannot wait to hear that.
  24. Scourton's interviews are telling to me that it's only a matter of time before he could really put it together. His limitation tool-wise that I see is in his bend, but at the leaner size, it looks like it wasn't a problem at Purdue. He has a good moveset and reads leverages very well (vet level well). Plays both the speed/quickness (great change of direction) and has a power game with good hand usage. Moves from what I've seen in my digs: I'm seeing cross-chop, fake crossers into bull, bull rush, spin (his preferred move of choice), hand shuck. He's not unrefined by any means. If he can do 2 things---I'm feeling confident from seeing his interviews that we have a real dude on our hands: 1) Diversifying his moveset/how it's deployed - Over-reliant on some, but again, he has a growing palette. And is already great with his hands so things are in-place to coach up. 2) Developing a counter moveset and starting to play the chess game with an OT - He's very good at reading leverage, knowing when to change things up during a play. But NFL coaching should start to teach him how to really create a plan based on an opponent. What to throw at a guy first, how to confuse with fakes/counters, etc. How to play against these tackles as a game progresses. Overall, he has some things that give me serious optimism: Run Defense, speed moves, power moves, he's super young and has the size/length. When you really spell it all out, I think we should get excited. Temper expectations from a stat sheet standpoint, but he should be able to go in and make an impact.
