He's a dude on the field, but I would be doing a ton of research about him character-wise. I could see some teams worrying about him in the locker room after how poorly his interviews have reportedly gone.

Well, one thing is true... We clearly want to walk away from the draft/undrafted free agency with a guy we believe we can develop. This is the 3rd top 30 visit with a QB and the 4th notable visit with one.

Can he play C?

You don’t really draw offenses up like this anymore, at least not if you’re good. you want guys who can play inside out or anywhere in the field to mix things up. Concepcion doesn’t have the ideal frame to play outside, but he’s not small either and it looks like he charted really well on what are considered more perimeter routes last season.

Yeah, once it became clear that Donovan wasn't gonna make a decision in time we had to pivot off of that. Hiring Donovan would've basically meant eating a wasted season and getting a new era off to a horrible start because we would've lost a lot in the portal and basically had to try to piece together a roster out of absolute portal leftovers. It would've probably been the least talented roster we've ever put on the court, an absolute embarrassment, and might've given 8-20 a run for its money for worst UNC bball team ever. You can't start off a new coaching hire already in the wrong side of 60 like that.

I’d argue Robinson is the biggest bust because of going number 2 overall never being good at any point and being far more famous for his exploits as a drug dealer after his career than a football player. But bortles played 8 years in the league, and at least had a couple of decent seasons, one of which included a playoff run that ended because of a very questionable call that favored the patriots. You could at least say there was some value to his career. I’d call manziel a bigger bust than bortles though because of the hype he got, the fact that Cleveland did have to give up a third round pick to get him at 22, and what a disaster he was off the field (and not good on it). Skipping concussion protocol where he was supposed to stay in Cleveland to go party in Vegas while wearing a fake mulllet, glasses, and a mustache thinking he wouldn’t get recognized at a casino and night club.

Robinson was imo a bigger bust than Bortles. I forgot he even existed and had to look him up to remember.

I'm not thrilled with the idea of drafting any WR at #19 unless Makai Lemon falls, but I will say KCC does have the right skillset to be a really solid slot receiver and that is what we need if we do go WR. My fear is they will try to force any WR taken in the 1st round into being the #2 across from TMac instead of realizing they have that guy already (Coker) and find a good slot option to compliment our outside WRs. Or this could all be a smokescreen and we'll end up going DL or CB. Who knows.

WRs maybe. The issue is his skillset is a highly coveted attribute that teams chase hard. Look at what Wandale Robinson just got in free agency. you can find a smaller guy later in the draft, sure. But finding a great one who is twitched up and explosive and ready to make plays? Those guys go extremely early.

Concepcion doesn’t necessarily end the Legette experiment which I think is part of the appeal. two different types of players, Concepcion being a highly coveted skillset that is extremely difficult to find.

Officially offered the job to Lloyd, May and Donovan. Donovan hadn't said yes or no yet but wasn't going to make a decision in time. Last three was Byington, Donovan and Malone. New AD wanted either Donovan or Malone after Lloyd and May said no.

Yeah, there's a lot not being said about our OTs right now, just picking up a starter-quality in Free Agency spoke volumes, since we haven't done that in years. Still... maybe we get lucky and we have three active quality tackles moving into next season. Big guys all have normal-sized knees, though and those ligaments and menisci are just as vulnerable to them as they are to you and me. Gosh, I really wanted that Jag, too.

Yeah, I'd take his career over Maziel's too but I'd rather have a bust at #22 vs. a bust at #3. Bortles was the bigger bust because the #3 pick is much more valuable than the #22 pick. Greg Robinson was a huge bust too and he went #2. The biggest bust in the draft is usually gonna be a top 5 pick and almost always a top 10 puck simply because of the massively skewed values of higher picks.

OT seems like the most responsible pick to me. Conservative? Probably ultra conservative. Prepper like. I can’t shake the feeling that we will regret passing on one before the season is over. Plus it lines up and sets us up to be able to use the 2027 1st on a QB if we need to. because we might. Think about it, worst case, we could actually be down RT, LT and QB going into next year. It isn’t that inconceivable. Matter of fact, it is very ‘Panthers’. We have Walker yes, for this year. Whose last team let walk, and for fairly cheap money. Does that make you feel secure? (I mean okay, I feel a lot better with him than without him, no doubt just saying) The only thing is the tackle that fits the job has to be there at 19. You can’t force it.
