He was benched with zero plans for him to start ever again. If not for Andy's accident he would had to compete for his job this past offseason. That's if he was still here.

The Panthers’ Bryce Young Problem is Getting Old
frankw replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean the guy is the face of the franchise he could at least make an attempt to set an example for the other guys. And our previous GM did directly a address this and stated they would get Bryce on a nutrition program and get him in the gym. -
Bryce by the numbers(emotionless post)
KaseKlosed replied to KaseKlosed's topic in Carolina Panthers
This board is just full of emotional posters. Yall criticized Cam and Ron when they were putting up best numbers in franchise history. Yall deserve losing football because yall dont appreciate the small things. Learn to grind it out or pick a new team every year like most casual fans do. -
He spent most of his Saints career on their practice squad.
-
The knives came out when the guy they traded the farm for was imploding while the HC gave up carring. If it wasn't about Young then they would have gotten a better backup that could finish the year...just like this year. He was literally benched to switch it up and try again. No one with eyes could think that Dalton is playing close to a full season.
-
You’re not wrong.

How many games before they pull the plug for good
Jay Roosevelt replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes. Play just hard enough to end up picking #14 overall and miss out on all the QBs. -
Just as it was last year: benching Bryce Young is a DUMB move. Literally 0 upside to it. Yes, Bryce Young sucks. But we're stuck with it. Why bench him and risk a lucky win or two with the back-up QB momentum? Why risk Bryce getting reinserted into the line-up and playing "inspired" football, fooling us into giving him one more year? Stop making the wrong choice, Carolina. I said it last year and I will say it again: Bryce Young is a "earn you the No. 1 overall pick" level QB. You have to ride him out the entire season. Let him do what he's already done and that is secure the worst record in the league.

NIL money has changed the college game, particularly at the QB level. There's a character development aspect that isn't happening anymore and not just in leadership, but in the idea that you have to pay the dues, earn your spot and overcome. And then we ask these half-baked products to come out on opening week in their first year (or second or third even) and take the world by storm. They didn't have to back up Brett Favre or Joe Montana or anyone for that matter. The only one I can think of that had to ride the pine before taking the reins was Love in Green Bay and once he took over for Rodgers he showed maturity and an understanding of not just the game but his place within it. I know, I know, old fart yelling at the clouds. Yadda yadda.

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?
raleigh-panther replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
Come back week 17, it will be the same with this franchise, we have all seen enough reruns to know how this will end -
The pivot came when the knives came out. The staff imploded from within and Fitterer got exposed as a fraud that wasted the draft assets on the wrong qb and hired the wrong coaches. Last year was an attempt to see if it was possible to salvage some of the draft assets and assess who stays and who goes. But what they ended up with was all they could get as coaches who would accept Teppers conditions. If it was only about Young he doesn't get benched after 2 games with only Dalton as plan B.

It's even more simple than that. I don't think the playbook magically opens up for Dalton (and a 40-7 loss among other losses proves it), but defenses don't need to even execute well. Disguise your coverage every snap and as soon as the ball is snapped, it's like Young is wearing a blindfold. He has no idea what to do. I blame him for a lot of that but it's not just him. It's Canales insisting on throwing the ball every 2nd-and-short, every 3rd-and-short, poo like that. Like I said, they deserve one another.

He was a Free agent signing from the Saints
-
Hammering the other team's ML (and almost always the spread) every Sunday at least offers me some monetary consolation.
-
Because Bryce Young is a God-tier tank commander Lets just hope this time, the team doesn't bench him and instead lets him complete his destiny. He already did it for the Bears, why not us? 6-23 career record
-
This. Honestly Bryce handcuffs and offense. Defenses are just playing bland, vanilla concepts against us because they can. They don't feel pressured to force anything. Just focus on filling gaps to stop the run and play tight coverage because you're not worried about the field being stretched and let Bryce make mistakes. I've said it over and over but Bryce basically turns the entire field into the redzone because we can't threaten the defense vertically.

Bryce by the numbers(emotionless post)
Mr Mojo Risin replied to KaseKlosed's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting. So what this is saying is if everything goes the way it's supposed too every play we have a potential MVP QB on our hands? Very interesting. -
If you include the teams the QB went too it absolutely is trash. I still stand by what I said. Top picks usually go to trash or dysfunctional teams. That's why there is a trend of guys getting another shot and proving they aren't trash these days. Now add in the trash coaching at thr school level effecting the quality in the NFL. None of this happens in a vacuum and player quality is declining due to that. This last drafts first round was filled with normal 2nd round talent. It's not just QBs

Not benching Bryce and starting Dalton would lose the locker room for DC. The players respect and play harder for Dalton -

This is a silly comment. In reality he benched Bryce and was never going back to him. Dalton got hurt and they were forced to play Bryce. Bryce played "well enough" to get another chance. He is stinking his second chance up and he is probably on thin ice as it is. -
Not saying I’d rather have Russ than Bryce bro I don’t even believe he would have a won out in camp. Point is if Canales didn’t even consider him I doubt Young competing was ever on the table
-
This team has never drafted a qb to develop, tuly develop to take over if and when the starter proves ineffective. They only draft one a couple of years after the starter has been ineffective. They never plan ahead.
