  2. Horn can make it. Baring injury, the WR room is most likely Thielen, XL, TMac, Coker, Renfro, Horn, and maybe David Moore at #7. Renfro is a lock at this point.
  3. 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: Bucs rookie edge rusher David Walker has a torn ACL and will miss the season, per @NFLSTROUD https://x.com/NFL_DovKleiman/status/1949819904556777557
  4. I have never seen this cat play a single snap of football, BUT, I really hope that we're not counting on a 25 yo, UDFA who played 6 years of college ball to suddenly replace our starting LB. Sounds to me like Dean Jones needed a story and didn't have anything else to write about. Wishing the guy luck though, cool nickname.
  5. I'll go 1 further than that. This 23 year old had spent 4 years as a middle of the pack college player before exploding onto the scene as a 5th year senior, then we have enough faith in him to trade up 1 spot so that we can get a 5th year option and guarantee his salary. So in about a year's time he went from a mid round pick to a first rounder. It would be hard NOT to let that go to your head! I'm going to trust that the staff know what they're doing with XL and not give him too much crap about being a dumbass LAST season, as long as he doesn't continue to be one.

  7. From Brugler's scouting report... Tavareon “Bam” Martin-Scott picked up his nickname because of the fireworks celebration he typically receives to celebrate his birthday. He grew up playing pee wee football in Fort Wayne, Ind., but developed late and was mostly a part-time player until his senior year at Snider High (alma mater of Jessie Bates). He posted 87 tackles and 6.0 sacks as a senior in 2018, but it wasn’t enough to put him on the recruiting radar. A no-star recruit, he played two seasons with Dodge City (Kan.) Community College and then received several SEC offers. His playing time and production gradually increased each season for the Gamecocks, and he put intriguing flashes on film. Martin-Scott is a good-sized athlete, with pursuit speed to match races to the perimeter. He competes with a banger mentality to pinball off blocks and stay determined on his path to the ball. Overall, Martin-Scott freelances a tad too much with inconsistent steps in coverage, but he is a classic run-and-hit linebacker who likes to play loose and chase plays — necessary ingredients for NFL special teams. grade: Free Agent
  8. Imagine trying to speak another language to please people. Nothing timid about him. It’s crazy how yall talk about pros from a keyboard.
  9. a lot of people either want me or want to be me. i'm legendary. legen....dary
  10. He stood out at times at Carolina, but he never struck me as an NFL linebacker. I’m pulling for him though. Would be great for him and the Panthers if he sticks.
  11. Besides Ryan Fitzgerald, Luke Kandra most likely will stick IMO. As far as other UDFAs, I think Nomura had a more impressive collegiate career than Bam so who knows?
  12. Looks like similar to other NFL teams and sports media that the Panthers are leaning in to PFF. Like basic statistics, their grades might not be the end all be all but there is a LOT more information available through them then just their grades. I once doubted their "arbitrary grading" (my own words here on the Huddle yeeeaaars ago) but looking at all of the data (AND watching film to try and see what they were seeing) they have it became obvious I was missing out by not considering them. At the very least, PFF metrics and grades hold a lot more weight in Panthers-related debate going forward as the team continues to hire former PFF guys.
  13. People are really concerned that a rookie came in and didn't have the right mentality out the gate, admitted it and is now saying in no uncertain terms that he is committed to doing better? Wtf is going on?
  14. They call that premature. Like waiting for results and then using analytics on that process to improve it would be a bad thing. If PFF was infallible then their grades wouldn't be so debatable at times.
  15. ah yes I was convinced he was going to be something lol
  16. It is very possible for people to grow and become better at their jobs overtime
  17. I am not sure what the statistics are for 2nd rounders, much like Google "AI", as I would have to do actual research that it doesn't. The 3.3ish years average NFL career has held fairly true, IIRC. I know there is a site that still tracks that data. There was a very good and thorough look at success rates by round(I think it was based on games played or started) I read a few years ago and after the 3rd round the success rates dropped off precipitously. I will see if I can dig that up in the near future.
  18. Well the team is always going to say such things. We will see this year. If he has really dedicated himself to football, the results should show themselves on the field. If they don't and he starts to get pushed down the depth chart, I think the writing is basically on the wall It's hyperbolic to say it's a critical year but if it's more of the same after year two, I am just not sure there is really any more to see.
  19. I never judge a receiver on his first year. Enjoy that foolish feat.
  20. I don't see Horn beating out Coker. Coker was the 2nd best receiver last year behind Adam Thielen. Time and Time again he made the catch that XL couldn't.
  21. Maybe they have had faith in Demani Richardson for a while now. Hence why we never signed Blackmon or Simmons. Let’s hope he keeps it going. We sure need help that FS position.
  22. Fits the mold of downhill thumper. You want to ideally have a guy that doesn’t get washed out vs the run and the other guy to have range vs the run and pass for your setup at ILB. We’ve had neither for some time.
  23. He needs to stop being such a nice guy this year. I’d rather him be a little crazy like so much WR’s are. He comes across as timid and unsure of himself in his interviews.
  24. I think what hurt Thompkins was he wasn't good enough on special teams to warrant a full time roster spot. Horns only realistic shot is there as well. But he may just unseat Coker as wr4 the way hes playing, if Renfrow hasn't beat him to it already.
