  2. I think everyone just needs to relax. Bill needs more time - he has 6 SuperBowl rings, he knows what he's doing...
  3. Today
  4. Stud just need quality LBs behind him to maximise his presence
  5. Isn’t this the norm? Very few teams, if any, have 4-5 players pan out per draft.
  6. All general managers rely on scouts.
  7. McCaffrey was Gettleman. But yeah, Hurney never misses in the first round. Greatest GM when it comes to first round picks.
  8. I think you have it the other way around. We aren't "out of the race for the playoffs" which makes it more likely to play him than if we were winless.
  9. We are one game behind a wild card spot lol.
  10. The one that still blows my mind was if Burns hadn't been available Hurney was going to take Greg Little. He had a 1st round grade on him after that horrendous combine. We got so damn lucky Snyder drafted Haskins
  11. I need to actually do a full analysis but I think the issue was more that we'd rarely have top-to-bottom awesome drafts but we'd frequently have drafts where only 2-3 players panned out, but the 1st is a Pro Bowler and the other two solid starters or backups. We rarely had drafts where only 1 player was good, and we never had absolute useless drafts. At the very least we always had one really, really good guy. The worst was probably 2005 where we got Thomas Davis (Hall of Honor-quality player) and Geoff Hangartener. Evan Mathis was good, but only after he left.
  12. Hurney wasn’t good with contracts but I think he was probably above average at drafting. Not saying he was great. Just that most draft classes are worthless.
  13. Ehh, teams earlier this season double and tripled teamed him with decent success. The reason he beasted out so much with Miami was for some reason they did not much at all. Bad call on their part. But that is his purpose. If he is eating up people that is huge, and theoretically should give others the ability to make a play. But his surrounding cast to do that isn’t great. Brown is something OCs have to put a lot of time to plan for.
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1cJoCZu0EQ probably more of an offseason topic but this came up on my YouTube recs and figured it was something to share
  15. So who was evaluating? They have a different team for the first round? Crazy how lopsided it is. (I mean, Hurney was a sports writer before the NFL not a scout).
  16. Well seeing as we aren’t yet in a race for the playoffs if it takes another week, it takes another week. He has been out more games than I expected. That situation was some fuged up timing if you believe the official timeline. I don’t know what to think about that.
  17. Hurney in the 1st round Hurney after the 1st round
  18. I do remember that now that you mentioned it I saw an interview with him at the time and I think it’s mentioned here on the board somewhere. I was impressed. [He was considered a leading guy in that company, a scouting think tank/consultant type of thing. I remember the ex GM of the Falcons I think was involved. And Tampa Bay. Dimitrof?]
  19. Yeah that was something. In my youth a QB that couldn’t make it as a QB in the NFL and was going to try WR went a bit later. Now that you mention him though what would he look like at QB of the Panthers today? Makes me think.
  20. Thielen wouldn't have been higher than WR 3 on any other team but the Panthers though. Look what he's done with the Vikings so far. Every starting WR that was traded/released/ not resigned hasnt done anything for another team but they were Bryce's #1/#2 WRs during their time here. Johnson, Mingo, Chark, Thielen, Marshall Jr. Most of those guys were the WR1 during his first two years! That is a crazy terrible list. Throw in the fact that XL has looked more like a typical Panthers 2nd round dud than a true 1st round pick like DJ Moore or even Tmac and you can easily see that the Panthers have not done a good enough job with surrounding Bryce with NFL talent at the skill positions That's not to say Bryce doesn't deserve his fair share of criticism. He absolutely does. He has a lot of terrible turnovers and makes some pretty bad throws/reads. I think he's limited in the short range, screen passes etc. And doesn't have good enough deep throw accuracy to keep defenses honest. We'll see what happens but if Bryce fails the Panthers front office definitely had a part to play
  21. Considering he was listed as a full participant, I think he will be back pretty quick unless he has a setback like it bothering him tomorrow after todays practice or something.
  22. They’ll activate him Saturday. Have seen this movie several times.
  23. I wonder how much of it had to do with the hiring of Eric Eager as VP of Analytics. He came in May 2024 after Free Agency and the Draft but was a part of the last draft and Free Agency. For those that don’t remember, Eager was a Senior Data Analyst and VP of Research and Development at PFF. After that he was a VP with SumerSports where he had a big hand in creating NFL AI focused around roster optimization.
