Adam Thielen Requests and is Granted Release

So Dan Morgan knows what he is doing?!?! Some huddlers need to lay off of him. I think Dan has done a great job of adding talent and winning trades compared to previous regimes. Dan fixed the Oline year 1, fixed the Dline year 2, added contributors in Mike Jackson for pennies, drafted fairly well. He's not going to hit on every player/pick, but he has contributed to the teams success instead of hurt the team like Fitterer. -
Wide open. Excellent play design. ANY starting NFL QB should be able to hit this throw. This this the only big throw I would remotely call a dot. Single coverage and Coker had his man beat. The help from the center of the field is way too late. The other so-called dot. Again, wide-ass open. So of the three so-called "dots" Bryce threw, in reality it was actually one.

Bryce might be the most frustrating player we've ever had.

That's if he doesn't push to have his extension like other QBs that have remained with their teams have done following year 3. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Hurts, Lawrence all got their extensions after year 3. Lamar played out his 5th year. That's why I said the 5th year and extension could be a potential clusterfug. His agent could very well push for the extension. Lamar didn't have an agent to advise him. Playing out the 5th year is not the norm at all. -

OTs early but really good IOL is almost always available 4th round and beyond. Heck UDFA is a great time to pick up guys that need a year or 2 before you pencil them in as starters. -
It’s nice to play: 1. A good team 2. Without a local fanbase/transplants 3. And win These ingredients don’t present themselves too often in BofA.

I like the Saints beating the Bucs over the Falcons. Falcons are dog doo doo

We should be trying to solve the center issue once and for all, if possible. Outside of that, we should always be drafting OL to help get the depth upgraded or groom future OL starters, IMO. I get that we have way, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many holes on the roster to just focus on that one area(a roster strength, at that) but I have a personal philosophy of taking at least one OL in just about every draft, if not more than one. -

Probably. There's not really a spot for him on the Panthers, barring an injury. -

Coker made Thielen expendable. Now that he's back, there really isn't a place for Thielen anymore. Still a really skilled player, but his athleticism is no longer NFL-WR level. -

Trade details re-visited: Panthers-Vikings Adam Thielen trade details Here's the full details of the trade: Panthers received: 2026 5th-round pick, 2027 4th-round pick Vikings received: conditional 2026 7th-round pick, 2027 5th-round pick So, the Panthers flipped their seventh-round pick in next year's draft into a fifth-rounder and turned a 2027 fifth-round pick into a fourth-rounder. All that for a guy who played 185 snaps over 11 games and caught just eight balls for the Vikings. Rare Panthers "W" right there. Carolina could do something absolutely hilarious and claim Thielen off waivers, which would really make this trade look even worse for Minnesota. Granted, the Panthers certainly don't need Thielen and he likely wouldn't have a role much bigger than the one he had with the Vikings, but having the extra depth would not hurt Carolina's playoff push one bit. https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nfl/carolina-panthers/news/panthers-fleece-vikings-adam-thielen-trade-details-wrs-release/fd67e6af5aba99ea5433f9b0 -

The 2026 draft is going to be OL heavy. Team needs everything. Unless guys are willing to take cap friendly deals to stay, they'll be traded a year early or released when the cap hit isn't crippling. That's the NFL. -

Adam Thielen Requests and is Granted Release

Article from SI.com: The Carolina Panthers traded veteran Adam Thielen back to the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason. There was some early speculation about how that would go, as Carolina was trusting a very young wide receiver corps and moving on from their most reliable and productive offensive target. Quickly, it looked like, at the very least, the Panthers got something for nothing. Thielen had no impact on the Vikings, and while the passing offense could've used Thielen at times early on, the Panthers have adapted and honestly thrived without him. After Week 13, in which Bryce Young connected with Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan for scores in a big win over the Los Angeles Rams, and the Vikings got nothing on offense again from Thielen (or anyone), they waived him. The statement indicates that Thielen requested this, saying he wants to spend what could be the final weeks of his NFL career contending and playing on a team that can win. It sure sounds like a reunion would make sense for both sides. The Panthers don't need Thielen, but he probably needs them. Other contenders, like the Buffalo Bills or New England Patriots, could use him more, but he runs the risk of failing to grasp everything in time for it to matter. While the Panthers have changed their offense from last year and from training camp to now, it's still much closer to what Thielen knew early on. Re-learning this offense would be much less of a challenge for Thielen in the five remaining weeks. Plus, with a bye week coming up, Thielen would have two weeks to prepare. He did really excellent work with Bryce Young, who he clearly has chemistry with. Why not run it back as the Panthers improbably contend for a division crown? Thielen was mostly a volume contributor in Carolina. There was no one else reliable, so he got most of the targets and most of the catches. But even in a reduced role, it is highly likely he'd do better as WR3/WR4 in Carolina than WR3 in Minnesota. Thielen and the Panthers proved to be a perfect match one time. They could be again, and it would be hilarious to get Thielen and the pick they acquired for him in one season. -
It was basically a one-possession game the entire game, we traded leads a few times; this is because the Rams are a good team. Defense got 3 turnovers but allowed a lot of points. Bryce threw for 3TDs with no turnovers and made two huge plays on 4th downs.

What's the issue? We drafted a mascot with a 1st round pick. He sure talks funny!

The Packers have had 30+ years of good QB play with this model. It's like with anything, its easier to shop for something when you're not in desperate need. The Packers traded a 2nd round pick for Favre and they drafted Rodgers and Love both in the late 1st when they didn't have an immediate need but were looking toward the future. Now granted, it's also worth noting that they did only manage two rings with three decades of 1st ballot HOFer QB play and it's fair to argue that they may have been better off going all in trying to maximize those final years of thise guys but the path they've taken has led to them being a contender more often than not.

XL is very clearly a bust. You try to upgrade over him in the offseason in some fashion(free agency, draft, etc) and get the overall WR Corps improved. If you have a role for him on the depth chart after that, fine. If not, pursue trades or releasing him.

Signing AT would allow us not to play Xavier Legette down the stretch. I feel confident in Adam’s ability to run between the lines. -
So....What Do We Do About Legette?
Dave Gettleman's Shorts replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
bad weather conditions and the gameplan coming into the game was running the ball with only 20 passing attempts XL was blocking his ass off and drew the free safety on T-Mac's game winner -
How's his run blocking?

kungfoodude replied to OneBadCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well Bryce wouldn't be off his rookie deal until 2028 and its likely his big cap hits(assuming a top 10 QB contract) wouldn't start really hitting until 2029 at the earliest and 2031 at the latest if it is structured like a lot of the last couple of waves of big QB contracts. A healthy chunk of this core OL will be gone by the time his cap situation gets dicey. A smart team would have good replacement OL on various years of their rookie deals for a healthy chunk of the other four OL spots(assuming Ikey gets a big, long term deal). Mays is unlikely to get significant interest as a starting NFL center, if I had to guess. This is a mirror scenario to BC last offseason where a large part of the Huddle dramatically overvalued his marketability.
