OFFICIAL 2026 Undrafted Free Agent Thread
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
After seeing hits in the last two UDFA pools, I do not in this group sorta of a let down after I gassed myself up. Not like I know of their games, but just expected more. The duke DT only has to beat out hunte (2025 UDFA) or Ray (DL coach's kid) or even Cam Jackson mid 2025 5th. I thought they would bring in more edges, IOL, TEs, etc... -
My 2 favorite picks, since you didn't ask? 3. Brazzell II. A 1000 yard WR with 4.37 speed and checks all the boxes for a Z Wide Receiver. IN THE THIRD ROUND!!! 5. Sam Hecht. I think he will take over as the starter at some point this season and never look back. IN THE FIFTH ROUND. Runner Up: 2. Hunter: We were targeting a DT early in this draft because we did very little to replace Robinson in free agency. Hunter was our guy and he will start. In addition to that, you got a starting tackle that should man one side of the new OL we will build for Bryce's second contract. A starting WR, offensive lineman, defensive lineman and possible Offensive tackle (at some point during this year from this draft will start. UNREAL. In addition, I don't doubt that Wheatley (5th round) takes the FS job by next year and Lee III is Jackson's replacement in 2027. Finally, even Kuwatch should be a special teams demon and LB depth. Last year's draft was so good it was ugly. This one will turn out to be uglier. No offense Basbear--this ain't about you.

Whats available?

That's it. How do you feel about this draft class.

I think its the first time were on every pick 98% of the huddle approved. It did seem 2/3 of the teams reached full rounds for players and spot. Panthers took players that either "fell" or was within 10 spot of the mock nerds. The need being filled, minus the ILB(devalued all to hell and the 7th dude looks unique). I've been trying to think of past 5th rounders, cause both of the 26 draft ones I think will be part of Carolinas future....starting mid-season this yr.... Im going make up words due to lack of IQ...... Its the most "maybe starters" Ive seen from a panther GM. I do feel all 7 could end up starting at some point, I never felt that way before. -
This exactly. Mitchie is camp.fodder, I DK where you think this guy is going to ball
-
i think team wise the panthers are alot better, but believe most people have realized byoung limits the entire team. I see them with a top 10 pick if he plays like he has the last 3 seasons. I dont expect the running game to be as good which without that this would have been a top 10 pick year
-
Didn't he guarantee concepcion at 19?
-
RumHam started following We went BPA all weekend
-
Too bad one wasn't a tight end. These top 3 picks though, currently. Initial impact is I didn't hate any pick, and they all grew on me. I think icky needs to move to RT to replace Moton, he's better run protecting anyways
-
Yes, because it'll be even more obvious how much he is the weakest link. I expect the same old pathetic play we've seen for three years, lots of 130 yd games with like 40 yards and four first downs at half. I don't see any reason to expect anything else. And so we'll move on.

A look at the team after the draft and udfa signings...
Basbear replied to KillerKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you're off on a few guys. Safety Simmons >> Richardson The team loves Center Samac Guard Zavailla should be on the roster too. I think 7 WR and 3 TE is the current model. here's a good updated website about the roster- https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/CAR If this thread remains high, Ill post mine. I think mine would have around 5-7 different players and different numbers across the team. In the recent past UDFA and wavier claim add around 4 each year, I feel that number will be 0 this year. Always think STs, like Incoom, Tremayne, franks type players. -
You really think they dump bryce after 8 wins?
-
We'll never be respected no matter what. Even when we were 10-0 in 2015 I remember hearing we were "the worst undefeated team ever" in the media.
-
If Ryan williams can get his head out of his ass and stop being pussy whipped he has a chance to be really special. Got to get his brain working right first
-
I think we're probably headed for something like 8-9 again but miss the playoffs. Then we dump Bryce, Pickett, and any other QBs, draft one in the first and sign a startable vet and go 8-9 again. Then the QB we drafted gets good in the second year and we win the Super Bowl in 2028 season.

Basbear started following The Icky knee didn't explode draft

1- WR Makai Lemon(I'm not soo sure, but I think he was my BPA, no clue how panthers felt) 2- DT Lee Hunter(same) 3- CB Daylen Everette(Dan likes dawgs, he's one) 4- LB Bryce Boettcher ( good solid RAS guy leader) 5- C Sam Hecht(same) 5- S Zakee Wheatley(same) 7- QB Garrett Nussmeier(why not?) Any better?, it doesn't feel that way. plus highset 20/20 no one had Nuss in the late 7th. Maybe Dillion is pick or the rumors about KC were right.
-
CJ Bailey could absolutely crush it. Next year should have some nice WRs in Jeremiah Smith and Cam Coleman off the top of my head as well.
-
Have we earned it?
-
They won't get any respect until Bryce can show consistency in his play. The Defense will be improved but Offense depends entirely on how well Bryce performs.
-
he had 7 games over 200 in 10 games with an arguably worse wr core
-
Gotta be careful. Theres a few posters here who hated when it was pointed out that Shough was better than Bryce lol. Anyways, we’ll get respect when we earn it. We have a tough, 1st place schedule this year. It is easy to see how we could stumble, especially since we had so many close games, and Bryce was at the lower end when it came to QB stats.
-
and there is always the Mendoza type dude that emerges from nowhere Did any team trade any 2027 assets over the weekend?
-
This somewhat wrong too. Hoover moved to Indiana and he was replaced by a Harvard transfer named Jaden Craig. If Craig played up to the improved competition, he will be another top prospect. He was getting Day 2 hype prior to deciding to transfer to FBS. If half these players play how they are expected to, it still will be one of the most loaded QB classes in a long while. Literally the perfect year to need a QB.
-
Name me a team that can run on anyone with little to no help from the QB/passing game. People do not fear being beat deep. And deep these days is only 20 yards. Every defense cheated up towards the line. Every secondary. The Rams, even after being burned because they didn’t respect and protect against that, didn’t protect it again. Like it was a fluke. It sort of was. If we can’t scare anyone passing we will struggle mightily to run the ball against decent defenses. The flukes need to become the day to day outcomes. Not a couple of times a year.
-
Ya'll we just had our most successful season in about ten years and we got swept by the Saints. And we had to have help from the Falcons to win the division. And if not for Rico Dowdle's short lived historic production none of that would have happened. Yeah we're still going to have to earn respect going forward. Should go without saying.
