Who is going to take a shot at Malik Willis
djp14 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't see how Cleveland can be in on any FA QB, considering that DeShaun Watson is still owed $46 million in 2026, and his cap hit is $70 million. -

It seemed pretty clear to me after seeing them here, and closing out the season, that Seattle could win behind that defense. Made me wish I still gambled, I would have collected some money. The only way NE wins that game is if Sam hands it to them. -
I see it every day. Just watch CSPAN lol. But look at the lawyers, the media, it is every day with the over the top counter accusations. Blame the victim is one of the leading legal strategies of our current time. They don’t care if what they say is not true or reasonable or anything. edit: I guess we’ll see what they have to say. Trying to shift blame off him and onto anyone else, is about all they have. High likelihood they come up with some angle making him a victim. Maybe they still lose… I don’t think expecting the low road is unreasonable any more.

Saints? Super Bowl? Just can't see that happening. But, I would've said the same thing about the Seahawks and definitely the Patriots this time last year too. -

It has GOT to be awkward in that Vikings front office right now. You won 14 games with Darnold just to let him walk to hand the reins over to McCarthy who looked like absolute trash while Darnold turns around and wins the SB. Oof. Everyone clowns on the Jets and Panthers for the Darnold stuff but he didn't play well at those stops. He DID play well for the Vikings. The Jets and Panthers decided to move on from a bust that wasn't working out. The Vikings decided to move on from a guy who was playing at a legit good starting QB level to go with the guy they drafted to be their future. They're the ones who made the bold move with Darnold. The Jets and Panthers did what pretty much every team would do in that situation. Yeah, they failed organizationally around Darnold but they didn't choose to move on from a good QB. -
NFL.com mock draft: Panthers trade up for Reuben Bain
Bear Hands replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m here haha. The 2 most coveted spots are QB and a premiere Pass Rusher. I have a hard time seeing him go outside the top-5, definitely not outside the top-10. It shows how highly they’re thought of when Mykel Williams and Shemar Stewart go as high as they did. Bain would’ve easily been ahead of them and Carter last year. -
The only counter point is a legit pass rusher will make Derrick Brown and the rest of our defense way better. I think they sat Crosby last year. Of course the price can't get insane but he'd make a huge difference

With the Icky injury and Moton needing an heir apparent
Swaggasaurus replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
You’ve got some safe picks at LB and Edge at 19, unfortunately DT as well (sigh). Monroe Freeling is the home run or strikeout option. 16 game starter, limited tape, but it’s good against high level competition. You’ve got a chance to pick a guy who just has a foundation built for his game, but it’s solid, sky is the limit, but 16 games isn’t a lot of proof. If he hits it’s huge for the future, with the Ickey injury, with Moton at the end of his career. -
You can't just say stuff without reasoning. What exactly could the attorney say that would place fault on the officers in this situation, when it will ALL be on the dash cam? Respectfully, it feels like you are just overlooking the details and just assuming because he is an athlete, it will be okay. This isn't an ordinary DV situation. This isn't he said, she said situation. He hit a cop with his car. And it was on camera. That literally happened. Realistically, how could the cops be blamed? Yes, I get it. Athletes get a lot of leeway with crime. But this isn't going to be one of those situations. Feel free to come back to this thread a year from now and throw it in my face if I'm wrong. But he's 100% going to eat at least one or two of the charges.

Agreed that I highly doubt he falls out of the top 5 unless some character issues or bad medical history arises. -
NFL.com mock draft: Panthers trade up for Reuben Bain

Last thing we need to do is be trading up in the 1st round of this draft, unless we are talking like 1 or 2 spots if somebody good like Styles falls. I can very easily see a good talent like Peter Woods being there at 19. I would like it if we trade back in the draft to the late 20s (a QB needy team might want to trade up to our spot and take Ty Simpson) and take Mesidor. I know he is old, but I think he might be one of the best edge rushers in the draft and would arguably be top 10 if he was 21 or 22. -
Hate to ruin the vet QB idea but were stuck with Dalton next year as our backup. His 5.8 mill contract is basically entirely guaranteed. We cannot cut him therefore he will be on the roster next year, if we had a surplus of cap I could see us making the move but we simply are middle of the pack in cap and have glaring holes on defense that need to be addressed. Mark my words its a slim to zero chance we sign another vet qb for a vet standard 5-10 mill backup contract. Drafting a rookie is definitely in play in the later rounds, and could be a cheap contract to be the QB3 this year and take over QB2 the rest of their rookie contract. Would be nice to have a backup QB that could play in short yardage packages, would be interesting to see a player like Taylen Green in the 6-7th round to get a developmental prospect and our rushing short yardage QB option starting next year.

My guess: Jets, Dolphins, Browns, Steelers will be very interested in Willis. Falcons (if they think Penix isn't the answer) and Vikings (if they think JJ isn't the answer) could possibly be interested. -
NFL.com mock draft: Panthers trade up for Reuben Bain
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is no way this nasty motherfuger is on the board at 11. And if he were, we better trade up. It’s not like football with Bain, it’s a shotgun blast or a car crash, pure havoc. No one man should have all that power. He goes pick 2 or 4 and this is a non story. -

The half-dressed guy who got on the field had more yards than the Pats. -
Not sure I want to pay a king's ransom for him. Back to back years now where he has missed games because of injury (yes, I know it is debatable that the Raiders intentionally benched him to tank this season). Would I love to have him, sure. Is 1 very good pass rusher gonna make us a Superb Owl contender, no.
-
For free agent QBs, I think you have to look at a cheap vet. Mariota would be ideal, but I could see him being pretty costly. Tyrod Taylor is somebody I wouldn't mind. Trubisky and Zach Wilson are also worth a look.

I just can’t believe he was a 1st rounder. Albeit pick 32 but ooof. Who knows, maybe he turns it around but there’s something that is so off with him.its his whole games… His pace, lack of short area quickness, poor awareness, a lot of stuff that going into year 3 is pretty much make or break. It’s wild because our FO seemed soo intent on the guy but he really doesn’t fit with the team well. I just don’t see a guy that positive when you put him in. You hold your breath when he’s the first or second read.
