Official Week 3: Panthers vs. Falcons Gameday Thread
frankw replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce Young's current YPA - 5.3 Jimmy Clausen's YPA in 2010 - 5.2 Only rookie project Cam Ward is worse than Bryce so far. It is not unfair or unrealistic to expect our #1 overall pick to do much better than that in his third season. And no that does not mean he has to be Cam Newton. -
Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
ForJimmy replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
Didn’t realize Dante Moore is eligible this year. Not sure he declares but he has been looking great. -
If you’re a panthers fan, you never truly find out what the identity is.

Uh yeah...your point? We're talking about the expectations of a 1st overall pick because you said no one was asking Bryce to be Cam 2.0, aka a number 1 pick that comes out of the gate with a large amount of success. I disagreed and said people are. I have no idea what Jimmy Clausen has to do with that. -
panthers offense 30 of 32 in yards per play

True but Jacksonville is 10th ranked defense and Atlanta is 2nd. Arizona is 23rd which makes sense. New England is 16th so we will see -
Sigh. Here we go again. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/new-stat-panthers-qb-bryce-young-immense-talent-clearer I do agree Bryce has a lot of areas he needs to improve.

We won, but Bryce and Canalas still blow

Feel like I have heard that before. Then Bryce somehow makes that pass D look good. We’ve seen it before. -
I think the defense is playing better this year because Evero finally has enough starter level talent to work with. Last year I remember reading an breakdown of his defense and why we physically didn't have the players or talent to stop the run and that what he was forced to do to compensate left us wide open for other attacks. He was damned it you do and damned if you don't. Also, I hate when people talk about average yards when you have a huge outlier run. Chop off the top and the bottom and that's the real average. You can run for 1 yard 9 times and 80 yards 1 time and get a really good average. I hope it continues.

There is a whole world of middle ground between Jimmy Clausen and Cam Newton sir. -

Yeah how rude of people to acknowledge what's plainly right in front of everyone's nose. -

The posts are there for anyone to read. You've been carrying his water for so long now I don't think you know which way is up. -
What top 10 prospect do you absolutely NOT want?

It looks like the Jags are finally coming around to this reality. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/news/travis-hunter-snap-count-stats-alarming-jaguars-fans/e8b5752c40513c1688536a65 After primarily playing on offense against us week one, he's playing more and more defense and less and less offense ever since. The problem is that the Jags spent all off-season and preseason prepping him as a two way player that he wasn't ready to do either going into the season. They really fuged this up. I think he'll catch on over the course of the season but they are probably gonna throw away the first half of this rookie season trying to put too much on a rookie. -

His first name being Fernando is a plus too. -
He can throw downfield but it is very inaccurate or badly thrown. But Bryce has way more issues than if he can or cannot throw downfield.

I want Young to succeed but the attempts to rewrite the narrative anytime he musters up a decent game, quarter, drive, etc are getting old. Need consistency first. His ceiling as far as we've seen so far is "not bad sometimes". -

It's early I agree. Isn't this post about statistical rankings early in the season? -
I want fans to try and look at players the way a coach would. These guys made it to the NFL. There is talent and skill that got them there. Even past busts had skills, pros and cons, etc. If I read a scouting report that is nothing but positive or nothing but negative, that is a huge red flag. It's mind numbing what mountain some pick to die on like Bryce not having the "ability" to throw downfield. That he literally can't do it when there is video of him easily tossing balls between 40 and 50 yards. I've had too many arguments against things that are just not factual at all.

it's early, that garbage time of that Cards doing a lot of work presently in that average to get us up to 24

Somebody says something positive about Bryce Young: "They're a shill on the company payroll!" Somebody says something negative about Bryce Young: "Finally, a balanced and realistic take."

I don't know. I keep hearing people saying he needs to start playing a number 1 overall pick. Some hold him to the fan's standard of what a number 1 pick should be playing like and that after 3 years (even though it's only 2 years and 3 games), he should be producing as such. You call it coddling. I call it teaching and bringing a guy along who had a horrible start to his career and a clusteruck of a 1st year. If Canales is coddling him, then he should keep doing it because it's working and Bryce has been and is improving. You don't throw a guy into the deep end of the pool and watch him almost drown, only to throw him back in to see if he's learning to swim yet. Again, not saying he's earning a 2nd contract but don't act like a lot of people point out how Cam started his career as the 1st pick and how Bryce hasn't done that. That's ridiculous and you know it. -
Mostly because once a huddler establishes a position and someone disagrees, it become a contest to win the argument and a reputation to save. Justifying their position becomes more important than the Panthers or the players since their ego and position on this message board is being challenged. That is why few people actually have an open mind or are willing to change their opinion.

Love it. Prodiddy says we should check out what a former professional QB, Jake Delhomme, says about Bryce. He points out areas where the offense and Bryce need to be better. Completely agree. Then Cranky posts quotes from Jake that balances out the criticism with the positive things Bryce is doing. The very next post OldhamA asks why are we even listening to former professional QB's talk about Bryce since he works for the team. See, Jake even says he sucks. Here's the whole quote. Nevermind, don't listen to Jake. I know it's not that big a deal. I just find it funny what and how people use quotes or clips to support their arguments and how easy things can be taken out of context until you read or watch the entire thing. No disrespect meant to either guy.
