  1. Past hour
  2. I'm seeing too many defensive HCs with young QBs that have stalled after initial success. Hire an offensive HC while getting a playcalling OC and buy the best DC they can. A red flag is offensive guy 'taking their hands off the D to focus on the offense'. That's the OCs job so go be a HC and focus on the team.
  3. I would say Dalton is perfectly capable of doing as good or better of a job of that(which is to say, not very) as any of these 3rd string gunslingers people want to bring it. The logistics of all of this don't even make any sense, regardless. You aren't going to see them prepared in the full offense until damn near the end of the season. Remember, none of those guys were in camp with us at all. Frankly, for guys like Winston and Howell, it's questionable that they are ever really able to fully grasp just about any offensive system. They typically revert to, "CHICKS DIG THE LONG BALL!" pretty quickly.
  4. We need to stop "rolling the dice," period. Go find a decent veteran QB who can be serviceable for a year or two, improve the team in other areas and wait until the right guy is available in the draft and then make our move. It's this kind of desperation to find "the guy" at QB that has hurt as more than anything in the Tepper era. It's become a vicious cycle and we won't solve anything until we break that cycle.
  5. The problem is he'd keep around someone like Jim Caldwell to drive the next group of hires. It's not only that he can't hire anyone good. It's that he always keeps around someone bad from the last regime to seed the next one.
  6. I don't think anyone with other options is coming here at this point. If they have other options or reasonably anticipate having other options coming up within the next couple of years they're not jumping on the Tepper clown show career path grenade. And honestly their agents are probably telling them that.
  7. Not. Its fluctuated by a point or two since Capers. Hardly any difference and especially not to explain an extra 8 points per loss. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/NFL/scoring.htm
  8. They both just seem over their heads in their current roles and that's why no one else was considering them for these roles. But other than getting extremely lucky they'd be replaced by similar.
  9. This strikes me as a really stupid comment. Especially when they acknowledge that Canales doesn't have the QB to run his scheme. You can't say on one hand that the QB is the problem, then turn around and say "well, if only we had their coach and they had ours." If Vrabel was our coach with Bryce as the QB he'd be running into the same limitations that Canales is. Saying the results would have been reversed is saying that Vrabel would somehow magically be able to avoid having the same limitations. Now, if we also had Drake Maye at QB? Different story. But that's not what they're saying.
  10. I think people massively underestimate how much the Tepper thing will haunt all future hires. There are people who won't come here, no matter the price he attempts to throw at them.
  11. This crew is not going to improve anything. It's only getting worse with each game.
  12. It would be about seeing the offense actually function and move the ball. Hell, a functioning offense that moves the ball and puts up points but shoots us in the dick with turnovers kinda feels like the perfect situation. We get a more watchable product, Canales shows his offense can fix ruin with a QB with NFL tools, and we protect our draft position with turnovers and Evero defense.
  13. I'm not against it. I just think they're dumb. I actually don't mind if they both get another year, just to rebuild the Panthers brand image a bit.
  14. I used to think that but im not so sure now. If that is true then it doesn't matter what we think because this team will never improve.
  15. I don't think piling up TO's is gonna answer much in the way of coaching questions. If you actually had a GOOD NFL QB, it might. And, TBH, we do actually know the answer to the Canales question. It's just a matter of accepting it.
  16. My concern is that the replacements will be hired by the same guy and come from the same limited talent pool of people willing to work for Tepper. That's why I'm all for giving Morgan and Canales every opportunity this year I'm not letting them trade away future high picks but I'm not getting in their way of they want to trade a 5th or less for a QB that they say can make this offense work. It's worth that cost to get the answer on them. Let them do that and the results still look like this, now you know for sure and it only cost you a later round pick to get that definitive answer.
  17. Allar is so frustrating. I get he doesn’t make many weapons at PSU but he disappears in big games. His arm is impressive though…
  18. That would be the nail in the coffin for me following this team for the year. If you thought the discourse around Bryce was bad.... my god the Shedeur stuff is 1000x worse. Don't think he's any good anyways and don't like how he handles himself at all.
  19. Thats where we disagree then. I cant see a coach looking at what Dalton did last year and not wanting to at least try to improve the backup role. Not in any seriousness anyway. And why was Plummer back. He was hot garbage last TC and again this year. I just can't believe that we took the QB position seriously other than Bryce is our guy no matter what when they didnt even try to improve an ancient backup that already showed he wasnt good enough to be competitive.
  20. That was put on the practice squad last year. This team is run by fuggin idiots.
  21. I realize Tepper sucks, but I think it's much more likely that Dan and Dave just aren't very good at their jobs. I don't know that I buy there was a block from ownership on bringing in any backup QBs this offseason. I think DM and DC thought they'd be fine. Bryce is back and they like having Andy around the office.
  22. He's not getting his option picked up nor is he getting an extension. It is entirely possible to start an even worse qb however. I would not be against that if it gets us a top 3 pick. But I think we have the assets already to ensure that.
  23. Woof. That would suck, but knowing the Panthers, isn't out of the question.
  24. I'm a lot less certain about that. Maybe. But I could also see Teller being minded like the Bryce stans here who were convinced last year that he'd turned the corner and that we had to just keep building around him. If that was the case going in surely he has to be over it by now.
