I firmly believe that ship is sailed. When he came out for his presser, I literally just watched it thinking how the guys in that locker room feel listening to this same poo every week. Sure, there are other shitty players on this roster, and definitely some coaches, but when the one guy in the field whose play can make or break your day is consistently atrocious, where they’re doing poo like Dan shows in this breakdown…. Bro, we’re in year 3 and you don’t recognize they’re in zone and a defender is waiting to break in the pass you just stared down for 2 seconds? And okay, that happens to every web from time to time, but again, we’re in year 3, and you did it not once, but multiple times in one game. Somebody else shared in a thread yesterday, I think it was, that the Jags didn’t even run anything exotic. They didn’t blitz. They didn’t try to confuse him. They literally ran zone the majority of the game. And the poo he did in this breakdown, especially that throw to Renfrow, looked, from memory, exactly like the picks he threw to Jessie Bates repeatedly. So imagine that guy coming in the locker room and trying to say anything to you. Even if it’s an apology. I don’t want to hear it. You are costing us a chance to win, and if you know you’re not capable of doing better, fall on your sword and take your ass to the bench. That’s what a good teammate would do. A shitty one keeps going out there selfishly doing the same dumb poo he’s been doing. And Dan didn’t even show the scramble to stumble to fumble, which also seems like Bryce has done more times than I’ve ever seen one player do in my life already. It’s just comedic at this point that anyone is still pretending he is anything but what he’s shown to be. I really just wish he would bow out and give the players who are actually doing their job a fuging chance.

I think he has a chance and his mental makeup is a big part of why. I also think the Bears got a little complacent over the course of that game because the Vikings were completely inept on offense for most of it and once it started clicking for the Vikings the Bears couldn't get their head in the game and realize they had to wakeup and dial in again.
-
I completely agree with you, but I still don't think it means Tepper won't fire them.
-
I mean let’s not act like Lawrence was any good, he was pretty bad also. Jags just got a few turnovers off a bad Panthers O and a 71 yard run and that was the difference. At least we aren’t paying Bryce a ton of money like the Jags are

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?

And new ownership had everything to do with that. They hired people who know what they are doing and let them run the program. Here? Not so much. -
How many games before they pull the plug for good

Team culture means something. How’d all those premium high first round picks in the 2000 and 2010s work out for the Browns or Jags? when have you ever seen a perennial contender play for draft position instead of to win? Even in bad years? if you are the head coach of a football team and doing anything other than coaching to win, you should be in a different line of work. Regardless of record. -

It's not a true clean house unless Tepper shows himself out. -
Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
Captain Morgan replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
sleeper who is getting some buzz.... Fernando Mendoza QB Indiana Height: 6 - 5 |Weight: 225 lbs |RAS: N/A Fernando Mendoza could be a potential first overall pick in waiting, and the leap could be coming at Indiana. At 6'5", 225 pounds, Mendoza has the ideal prototypical frame, along with quick feet, nimble pocket mobility, and understated creation capacity and off-script feel. He's a crisp rotational and consistent areal thrower who flashes high-end situational precision and layering ability. Even beyond that, he has the rifle arm strength and keen anticipation to make NFL-level throws. There's a definite degree of arm arrogance in Mendoza's game that he'll have to tamp down, in order to minimize unnecessary risks and forced throws. Nevertheless, he has all the physical and mental tools to catalyze a rise as a franchise QB candidate. -
I do not wonder about those games. Like, was it Bryce playing better or those teams playing down to the competition? We’ve seen meh QBs have weird good games, maybe even a few of them. But it never translates to anything.

They hit at QB in the first swing. Now they need to do what the Texans didn't and keep going or else. That and having their target HC ghost them publicly was also an early ego check for the ownership group. -
I don't think it's hyperbolic at all. I went from hater to believer during the 2nd half of that game. Most guys do not come back from that 1st half.

PFF can go jump off a cliff and die. Did they even watch the game tape? How is possible that they ranked Bryce higher than Trevor Lawrence, unless they're pushing an agenda paid for by Alabama bagmen?
-
It looked like the same old trashy footwork to me. Bryce has never had good fundamentals footwork. He's always shuffled around square to the LOS and then once he sees where he wants to go he has to try to flip his hips and get his feet under him to deliver the throw. This was one of the things I would point out leading up to the draft as something that wasn't going to translate to the NFL.
-
Yet we will see Bryce fans on here saying how he has gotten it together after those games. Bad QBs can have good games.
-
I use Pro Football Reference. Please advise if there is a better location to retrieve the actual NFL stats? Maybe they haven't fully updated. PFF and fantasy football sites IMO aren't where it's at. They seem to be in the entertainment game and manufacturing debate stage.

Who are the top QB prospects for the 2015 draft?
ForJimmy replied to Panthero's topic in 2015 NFL Draft
I'm keeping my eyes on Taylen Green out of Arkansas. Good size, strong arm, and 4 years of playing between Arkansas and Boise St. He also has Bobby Petrino coaching him up who knows a thing or two about developing QBs see Lamar Jackson. -
I get what you’re saying but the reason I think his mentality underscores it all is that he did have legitimately solid and sometimes even good games at the end of last year after his bench, and against some good teams (PHI, Tampa, KC) but that was only after the season was shot and everyone thought he was done for. then once he had to play a meaningful game on Sunday he crumbled right back to pre bench form. It’s like he’s only able to when it *doesnt* matter But all just semantics tbh, we both agree that he ain’t it lol

The Panthers’ Bryce Young Problem is Getting Old
Loyalty4Life replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm still a big Bryce supporter. I don't look much at his rookie year as that only deepened the hole he has to climb out of. I see this past game as the 1st of his 2nd year. Judge him based off of his play after his benching. No argument that is play those first two games last year were about as bad as it gets. No question. This is the start of year 2 for Canales and he was out coaches against the Jags but I like his process and how he goes about things. I like that he, Morgan and Tillis seem like a unit and on the same path. Saying we never should have drafted him based on his height and weight is a valid opinion but he was a universal top pick in the draft and elite talent coming out. I have seen little evidence those are still issues. He is physical enough to take some monster hits and I don't see a limit to his passing due to his height. The lack of arm strength is a tired argument. He has the physical ability to make all the necessary NFL throws. Of course he doesn't have the cannon Cam did coming out but he also doesn't have Cams accuracy and throwing with touch issues. They are different players and Bryce has a ton of work to do just to be in Cams shadow. Bryce IS part of the problem but he isn't the problem. His play the last half of the season last year was impressive and showed a ton of growth and improvement. Outside of Horn, Nola and Chuba the whole team and staff looked severely off and not ready. If Dave calls a great game and other players play average NFL level football and Bryce still plays like this that is when we'll actually have as big an issue at QB as the haters believe. The issues are team wide and it's one game. Also, I like Tepper. -
They aren't credited with drops. That's just PFF. Not sure why they are still being pimped this hard when week 1 really highlights how bad they can be at times. Especially when they manufactured Bryce's grade like they did. Some 1984 stuff going on there....PFF telling folks not to believe their eyes and ears.

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?
Jon Snow replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
It took new ownership to change the culture in that organization. We are not getting that here. -
I don't know that we are really even drafting athletes. We are if you only look at 2/3rds of the standard athletic profile. Size? Check. Long distance straight line speed? Check. Any sort of quickness or change of direction metrics? Throw it out. We only draft guys who dont test for those. Weight and 40 time is plenty.

Is Tepper going to clean the house again after this season?
rebelrouser replied to Lame Duck's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not if we want him to start year one. I think overall the team is getting better and having a '26 qb sit year one might not be a terrible idea if we like who is there 1-3. -
This post is DOA. Watching that Miami game and they get credited with 0 drops!? Also you have CeeDee Lamb admitting he dropped 4 passes in their loss but 0 for him too. Wherever you are getting stats from I would change that source.
-
Yes This is a failure of both scouting and coaching. And by coaching I mean both in preparation and in gameday execution.
