Greg Olsen spoiled us. Ian Thomas was the most hated panther and he’s gone. We sign someone we drafted in a mid round to continue his development and it’s like we gave him top of the market money. This isn’t really a needle mover but definitely isn’t a horrible move.

Panther Needs and Draft Depth at Those Positions
Adb6368 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
We need to draft starters with our first 3 picks (and at least 2 of them need to be defense). If we want a RB find one in the later rounds. -
At this point I’ve heard this name so many times I’m almost certain that it won’t happen
-
Makes us better is key here. I don’t know if any of our picks last year definitively made us better. Just get someone that can solve 1 problem and we are making progress. then pick someone else in round 2 that will do the same. Then, crazy idea, maybe do the same thing a few more times. I know it sounds like rocket science but sometimes people overthink these things.

Tepper gets a lot of hate for things he deserves, but I don’t know I agree with the statement he is only somewhat interested in building a competitive team? If anything, he seems to be willing to do anything to build a winner even if it’s admitting horrible mistakes almost immediately.

LAST MINUTE: Panthers making a change at Stadium DJ

@musicmanis there one song you’d always have in your back pocket that you knew would go over well? Excluding sweet Caroline which was probably low hanging fruit for a happy crowd after a victory -
Tony Pauline: Panthers like CB Will Johnson
Adb6368 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If the choice is the #1 CB or the 3-4th best edge then I think CB is the logical pick. I guess hunter may be cb1 but I think my position still stands even if it’s a CB2 that would be cb1 in a lot of drafts -

I’m not sure what Mike Evans did to offend you but if we draft a WR at 8 that is Mike Evans I think everyone in Carolina would be ecstatic -

It doesn’t have the same impact when you’re now walking over and handing it to some millionaire sitting in the new on field suites… what a horrible decision to put those in from a fan perspective. -
Panthers and Horn talks will be interesting

The best player at any given position is rarely the highest paid. Salary cap goes up annually giving more cash opportunity. New contracts are based on current/future salary cap and active contracts become outdated almost yearly. -
Panthers and Horn talks will be interesting

He is undoubtedly a top corner in the league when he’s on the field. The issue has always been he’s not on the field a lot due to injury. Not sure how that impacts the negotiations but if he didn’t have injury concerns I think he’d undoubtedly reset the CB market. -
I agree he should probably get another shot. however, using injuries as an excuse isn’t exactly valid considering you have to always assume you’ll lose a few key starters to injury every year. You need to be able to scheme a defense into acceptability. most points scored on of all time is not a good look, even with an extra game

xl Should be compared to Keon Coleman and McConkey vs any of the first round receivers (and specifically Coleman due to the pick swap) Coleman is a tossup. McConkey certainly looks like the better pick currently but I’d argue he was in a much better position this year with stability at the qb position.
-
Considering what we’ve done for him, it’s time for Shaq to repay the favor and come back on a team friendly deal. We can not rely on him but he’s a leader in the locker room.
-
Move him to guard against Atlanta. Tag him as a guard. Save millions. Move Christensen to LT. BOOM. Salary cap magic right there. And ensuring we never sign a free agent again.

Chuba Hubbard wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Maybe the most unexpected breakout player in panthers history. And one of the easiest people to root for. Worth every dollars of that extension already. Need more players like him -
Who here was NOT HAPPY we won yesterday....

And player development may be more important than both -
It won’t fix our biggest issue but pairing Will Johnson with Jaycee horn is awfully tempting…

baker I would say is borderline The panthers looked at him as generational iq player. People forget that drew brees was seen as pretty average until he paired up with Sean Peyton. He also put on some muscle mass. bryce is still young. I think his number 1 priority is finding a way to gain muscle. His instincts and accuracy are there. He looks like a kid out there still. it all goes back to my original point that he needs time to grow. His intangibles are too good for him to be this bad in my opinion. I get it if you’ve given up on him I just think that’s the entire issue with the nfl right now - teams don’t I think long term enough (and tepper is the number 1 culprit of that)
-
People will hate it but I think he’s already solidified as our incumbent starter next year. Seeing what geno, baker, darnold etc have done, the nfl needs to learn that development is more important than instant stats. he needs time to grow and develop. And maybe most importantly, he needs stability within the organization. mahomes sat an entire year. Jackson and Allen both started as the backup their rookie year. I wholeheartedly believe we should have started Bryce on the bench last year and the organization is most responsible for his dismal start. Not helping the matter was an atrocious offense around him. Draft a mid to late round qb for a bit or competition but most importantly, give him the same system for a second year. I think it’ll pay dividends
