This is Johnny having Bobby ask Sally if she'll go to the Jr. High dance if Bobby would actually ask her. Good to know billionaires aren't exempt from insecurity.

I think we moved away from analytics when we selected a middle school sized QB with a high school level arm (although he had a super computer sized processor)
-
Give me either one of these in the 2nd round and I’m happy..

Like DJ Chark, Jericho Cotchery or Rocket Ismail, or "What's That Bear Doing?" i.e., that's not been a good path either. -
I loved Dan as a player but it would seem that this inside info only confirms that he doesn't have the influence to persuade Tepper to avoid signing off on dumb decisions. He may have "butted heads" but we still did dumb things. Without debating the Bryce decision, there are still the assets burned to MOVE UP to take busts like Matt Corral and DJ Johnson, never mind using a pick on a long snapper.
-
Think a lot of Dan too, but if he lacked the influence to talk people out of taking Matt Corral and DJ Johnson, let alone trading assets to move up to get them, he shouldn't stay either.

Or will an effort be made to get a legit outside candidate or at least the appearance of someone who would have some bit of control over the roster between Tepper checking in with suggestions/demands from his personal NFL grapevine?
-
Actually surprised we have 4 alternates. Does JJ have more total yards in punt snapping than Bryce does in passing?

For all that is holy please let this season end GameDay Thread

When Derrick Browwn is getting trucked, not looking too good for the rest of the day -
They obviously missed Grugier-Hill's kickoff/worm burner. That alone, even though it was special teams, should move him up to at least #18 . . .

BREAKING NEWS: Shaqui Griffin to the Panthers
RevJ replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
How long before he accidentally bumps into Horn and they are both out for the rest of the season? -
I say play them - on the O-line. Ickey could go to WR since he's consistently shown he can get quick separation and Throckmorton might get a flag as a wideout for one of his multiple flops each game.

If this has been addressed, my apologies. I don't think anyone would challenge the opinion that we have a significant talent deficit, especially in light of the the draft picks we have had. Some have pointed toward scouting as the issue. That could be true but do we really have any idea as to whether the scout's advice/input is being followed. I've seen a good bit of assumption regarding who is making decisions, but not sure any of us know. How much turnover have we had in that department since Tepper became owner? If the picks have been directed by scouting, that's obviously a definite need for improvement. If the counsel they are giving is being ignored, changing them out is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. I think someone said on "Get Up" (while discussing the Raider's dysfunction), that if the person making the decisions is the only employee that cannot be fired, (i.e. Mark Davis), then turning over staff is just a waste of time and money.

Rules won't allow it but the best trade capital we would have right now would be to offer to put a team on our schedule the next 5 years. Automatic wins are hard to come by . . .
-
Panthers couldn't get into playoffs if they opened them up to 90%of NFL teams. Tepper would read this thread and think we're all very stupid yet can't see he has done significant harm to what was an ascending franchise.
-
If we do, it will be for a project. Who lacks size, has an injury history, or somehow otherwise causes everyone else to scratch their head while we would take them that high, much less add trade capital to the deal

TOO BAD WE HAD TO BE THE ONES TO PROVE ANALYTICS / THE S2 TEST WAS A SHAM Analytics my help in hedge fund management but not the best way to evaluate talent. Maybe someone could have watched Stroud vs Georgia and noticed the clear intangibles. I think Bryce will be better than it appears now, but it appears that Stroud will break the mold of poor USU QB play. COACHING AND SCHEME MATTER – CAN’T OVERCOME POOR TALENT I think we have some impressive people on our staff. It would be difficult for anyone to make a case that we have assembled good talent on the field. We draft poorly and make terrible trades. Could Shanahan/McDaniel level play calling win with this talent? Maybe a bit more but not past the mediocrity level we are pledged to overcome. DEFENSE DESRVES MORE CREDIT We are tied for last in points allowed but we just saw a game where the other team’s defense scored more than their offense. We are 8th in total yards allowed / 5th in passing yards. Not trying to say we are elite, but with the key injuries on defense, they have held up admirably. Many of the stats they have given up are after our offense fails to take any time off the clock or add any momentum to the effort. TEPPER OWNS THE TEAM AND THE RESULTS In many lines of management they say that after 3 years the problems you have are your responsibility – you’ve had time to address and correct them. I’m not sure we will ever know what level of interference there may be but the owner has hired / allowed the hire of all the people that have given us the results we have. PREPARE FOR MORE “AWAY” GAMES AT BOA I’ll be a Panther fan for life. But for those who get upset at fans who sell their tickets, I wonder how many of them keep going to a bad restaurant just because of loyalty. Do they keep seeing a doctor who doesn’t help their health outlook? Do they call back the same contractor who messed up the last job? If the organization was showing signs of caring about the product and process, it would be a different case. Keeping a GM who is demonstrably among the worst in his field doesn’t express an awareness of how bad the situation is.

O Line has been defrauding coaches, claiming they could periodically and randomly get between a rusher and our quarterback to allow a millisecond to throw the ball. Why not add other fraudsters?
-
Nicole, that is
-
Reich must have hired someone to yell at them during halftime.
-
Luckily, we have an elite processor at QB. He almost instantly knew he'd thrown a pick six.
-
Young ends the half with a sack by a ghost runner on third
-
I think I know why we traded up for DJ Johnson. He is really confusing the O Line. Every time they double team him at leat one of the two blockers (sometimes both) are wondering "why am I here blocking a backwards blitzing lineman?" It's causing them to rethink their entire offensive game plan.
-
You can try 57 yard field goals when you know the worst that could happen ids the opposing offense going backward more slowly than normal
